Platonic - friendship or family, affectionate but not sexual

Romantic - sexual (although often affectionate too)

For me, affectionate friendship is part of romance. Affection sets the table for love's dinner.

I am SO getting that on a t-shirt.

Love cannot be deep.

It is simply the release of chemicals such as oxytocin which create a feeling that convinces and tricks your mind so you can reproduce, get help in times of need from friendliness, help one another out.

This is a part of evolution.

And where is the release of oxytocin when a parent sacrifices their life to save their child? Probably the light at the end of the tunnel, eh?

The neurochemicals are the cause, not the effect.

Ah so right after the desision to jump in front of a speeding car to shove my child out of the way, I feel euphoria?

I'd be willing to bet that adrenaline would be the dominant neurochemical, and that doesn't always have a euphoric effect. Any post-stress euphoria would probably be rendered nugatory by death.

The euphoria would be the effect, not the cause.

So the love that I feel for my child can produce oxytocin or adrenaline depending on the situation?

Love is pretty amazing.

I'm unsure you're reading what I'm writing, and lack the inclination to waste any further time here.

I'm unsure you understand what love can do far beyond nuerochemisty. C'est la vie.
