2016 NFL Thread
Just realized we don't have a main thread for general NFL discussion this season so here it is.

Starting us off with this incredible rushing TD by Blount, wherein he drags the Cardinal defense into the end zone with him:

How epic was that? Honestly I count 6 people who have a hand on him.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 2: Patriots, Broncos shoot to the top: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...to-the-top

Quote:Rank 1: PATRIOTS

This is deserved, for the following reasons:

a) The Patriots beat the most talented team in the league on the road.
b) They did it with their backup quarterback.
c) They did it without arguably the premier tight end in league history.
d) One of the top-two quarterbacks in history returns in a few weeks.
e) New England controlled the game almost wire to wire.

Go Pack go! I'm kind of a heathen, as I consider myself 'from' Chicago but I'm a Packers fan.

Brady is good, but I think it's an exaggeration to claim he's one of the top two quarterbacks in history.

Obviously I'm biased, but IMO he deserves that ranking based on his Super Bowl record (6 appearances, 4 wins) and his interception percentage (which is second only to Aaron Rodgers). I've explained before why I think interception percentage is a better way to measure QB success than completion percentage, and it's because completion percentage is affected by ball drops (i.e. the receiver not catching a well thrown ball) and I believe they also count times when the QB throws away the ball on purpose.

Joe Montana is comparable to Brady in Super Bowl wins, but Brady edges him out in terms of interception percentage. In fact, Brady has only 11 more interceptions than Montana, despite playing in 59 more games than Montana.

I would put Brady, Montana, and Rodgers in the top three.

If championships are a major criteria, why is Bradshaw not on this list? If we consider pre Super Bowl play, Starr should also be mentioned.

I wouldn't put Bradshaw in the top 3 simply because his interception percentage is bad (he ranks 154th). Bart Starr is 125th.

Brady has an exceptional interception percentage (2nd), 4 Super Bowl victories with 6 appearances. Rodgers has the best interception percentage (and it's 0.3% better than Brady's) which is why I think he ranks so highly despite only having 1 Super Bowl victory.

I wouldn't call it a major criteria either, but it's definitely a bonus.

Even if we got rid of that criteria, I'd be happy with the ranking (Rodgers, Brady, Wilson) for at least the current generation of QBs, but I think people would object to Montana not being in that list.

I quite enjoyed Big Blue asserting their dominance in the NFC East in Week 1

Let's see how he does with properly inflated balls. Angel

(Not) enjoying seeing the Seahawks play down to their opposition again. Seriously, you let the Fins keep you out of the endzone for nearly four quarters? Angry
