RE: The Ultimate Fight: PS v/s Xbox

I have had every iteration of PlayStation.
Metal Gear Solid is what clinched it for me. I have played every iteration of that game back to the Famicom days, and I love it so much. I still have to play the newest version, I've just not had the time.
Also, the controller. I'm sorry, but I hate the clunkiness and size of the XBox controller. Also, the fact that both consoles share an X, and it is in different locations. When I play Madden against a friend who has an XBox and my quick twitch reactions take over, there is nothing more mind bendingly infuriating than trying to throw to the "X" receiver and it going to the "A" receiver, 90% of the time resulting in an interception. I don't get overly angry often, but that is a case where pride is on the line and my friends might win because of this stupidity. Since the PS controller predates the Xbox controller, the blame lies squarely with Microsoft.

To make it even worse, they pretty much just copied the older SNES controller and flipped the letters around. The SNES was one of my favorite consoles, so the XBox's control scheme infuriates me on that end as well.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Even more evidence. M$ == grossly negligent.

The disc drive sticking problem was particularly bad for the OG Xbox. You're not missing much.

The MGS solid series is one of those few long-standingingly famous video game series I'd almost certainly enjoy but have never played.

I saw a little bit of the original Thief. Liked it very much. Like the first few Splinter Cell games although I consider it overrated. Never been able to like Assasin's Creed no matter how hard I try, as beautiful as the story, the plot, the characters and the graphics and sandboxing is in AC. As much as I appreicate how innovative it is. I can say many many good things about the AC series but I could never say that I've ever been able to get into it or enjoy it for more than a few minutes before getting bored.
For me it's due to to forced intros and the fact I don't enjoy the gameplay. Seems more like a movie than a game to me.
I miss back when games were just games, instead of all movieficated... like, back when the original Doom was around. That had a story in the game manual, a little teaser, but other than that the story was about as important as a story in a porn movie. For me, for me personally, that's how games should be. All about the gameplay for me.

Yeah it's gotta be the PS for me, such good memories of playing Gran Turismo 1/2 and Ridge Racer haha. And to be honest when Microsoft came originally came out saying they wouldn't allow second hand games or even friends sharing games that pissed me off, especially when they backtracked!

Some of Sony's business practices* piss me off, even more so than Microsoft - no easy feat - so I refuse to buy their products. The PS3 was the last Sony console I will buy, even though the PS4 is technically superior to the Xbox One if not just on paper but in actual use.
* primarily their heavy handed anti-piracy measures such as installing root kits from music CDs played in a PC - they no longer do this AFAIK - and removing functionality via update to consoles already sold and in operation for years (the OtherOS feature removed from the original PS3 via update after it was a discontinued product and no longer sold).

That X-box controller is one of the most awkward contraptions to handle while gaming.

Oh I love this war! It's PlayStation 100% for me. I use the PS4 for everything on a daily basis and always have with my PlayStations. I do own all the systems except the Xbox One. But in all honesty the best system there was is the Nintendo 64...
The only reason I own any Xbox system is because of Fable. It is only on Xbox and it was too good of a series to miss out. After my divorce (I got the Nintendo stuff, he got the Xbox stuff, and we split PS games but he got the PS3) I went out and bought the Microsoft shit just for Fable. Oh I will say I thought it was cool that the Xbox would play your music while you played a game.
Nintendo is fun for party stuff. When we have friends over we play the cliché Mario Party, Karts (beer karts lol), stuff like that where we can compete so Nintendo is still used fairly often but we all know the only reason it is still alive is its obsession with Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda (not that its a bad thing since I would be distraught to lose Nintendo).
