LOL that's a new one!!!
At least novelty counts for something....and are not the protagonists "better" for successfully defeating the protagonist?
Despite my myopia, I do think of others.

You are just using fancy labels to describe perfectly ordinary things though
So yes, ideologically inebriated indeed.

If someone means something they should state it in an at least somewhat comprehensible way. The op, to me, was fine. Ark said things like "she may as well blame the sun for burning her skin". There's no amount of twisting that can make a statement like that acceptable in reference to a rape victim. It was an extreme and unskillful example and the point I was trying to make is that rapists occur naturally and are a part of the environment around us. There will always* be those who are predatory to the public at large and rape is another form of stealing only what is stolen cannot be given back. It's energetic theft by physical breaking and entering another persons body.
There are reasonable precautions that can be taken to avoid getting burned and drinking/staying out too long is like reducing the SPF of your skin. Drinking for the rapist increases chance of solar flare which sun block won't help against.
It was a terrible analogy and unskillful presentation, I can imagine a reaction of "to hell with this asshole, I'll drink as much as I want!" and so the branch bears bad fruit with poisonous result, must be cut of and thrown in the mulch heap.
Thank you for your sword.

Aha! It was meant as an analogy!

No worries, Ark. I understand your meaning. Personal responsibility is a real thing. I don't think any woman, or any reasonable person for that matter, would argue against it. Acknowledging the consequences of our actions is how we learn. People who refuse to own their mistakes typically go on to make similar types of mistakes over and over, which is not a very effective way to go through life. My point (that Tibs did such a good job describing) is that saying, "wow, you really shouldn't have done that," AFTER the lousy decision has already been made doesn't accomplish anything. My answer to that would be, "Well no shit, Sherlock! A lot of good that does me now!"

Wise decisions by both ladies involved. Bravo!

But let's stop pretending that telling people to drink responsibly is this awful thing.
I agree totally. I've posted before saying that a person should take precautions to make it less likely that they would be a victim of rape and got shouted down. Maybe I should have changed my religious views to atheist and I would have got some agreement.

No one in this entire thread has said that it's an "awful thing" to educate young women on how to stay safe, including drinking responsibly.

How has that been? As in, how abrupt was the sea change in perception any time a life lesson had to slap you properly in the face due to your advantaged upbringing? What does that -feel- like?

Hmn? Well...I'll say it. Let women make terrible, terrible alcohol related "mistakes". It's good for them, it's good for everybody, lol.
