I find this fascinating. I never knew that the Mormon religion had secret handshakes & passwords. Next thing you know they'll be driving those little cars around in parades.

I never knew about the funny underwear until a few years ago, and even now I wonder if the real purpose of them is to remove any sexual temptation, because if I saw a woman wearing those I'd probably lose my erection.

That is because you won't hear about it from a member. If you want some basic beliefs and doctrines go to http://www.lds.org.

On there they usually don't say one way or another about controversial topics except for the well known ones and they don't discuss the handshakes.

This is the stuff I'm interested in, though. All the stuff that you're not supposed to know.

I been through the temple ceremony myself(it is a requirement if you go on a mission). I never understood what anything was suppose to mean it just seemed like gibberish, but I was taught that if I keep going to the temple someday I would find out more of what it means. Now that I'm out of Mormonism I know that every Mormon who finds meaning in the temple is just saying that the empire has no cloths.

That is how they keep people coming though and spending money on renting the temple clothing and keeping their tourist action up. You never discuss the ceremony outside of it but they don't give you a chance to ask questions while you are in it.

That way you keep going back, but the next time you do it on behalf of someone deceased. The church seems to have some fascination with dead people.

The funny thing is a lot of Mormons are rational and smart about things that have nothing to do with religion. My mom is smart about buying cars managing finances ect. But she believes the 2nd coming could come anytime and she does wear garments.

Don't pass off someone personally as a friend or someone you'd trust just because they are Mormon. Contrary to popular belief, they can keep their daily business lives and friendships separate from their religion depending on the person.

Other than going to church, the parts of the religion that involve their lives are the word of wisdom (coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs), the law of chastity (no pre-marital sex, porn, and they insist they don't masturbate ever but they are liars), the temple clothing (if they went through the endowment ceremony), and the rest depends on their personal morals and values.

Many families will have family home evening once a week which isn't really a bad thing. They spend a night with their families playing games, talking, and doing scripture study (the only down side).

So the religion involves much of their life but if you see them at work or they are like your agent for real estate, insurance, sales, etc. nothing about them being Mormon will really stand out or interfere with a professional relationship.
