Doesn't the koran claim Muhammad split the moon in two? I've never seen a credible source that claims that's possible. Have you? :S
P.s. I will leave the forums forever if the response is "the splitting of the moon was a metaphor/not literal/dream/BEING TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT!!!!"

It's sad that when a Muslim goes postal he/she is considered an Islamic terrorist, but when a white person goes postal it has nothing to do his/her color of skin or religion. This is just an attempt for the conservatives to try and show that Islam is the sole factor when a Muslim loses his/her marbles.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The truth is, Islam is just a variation on the Christian theme and both religions are dangerous. Christianity's modern incarnation is one that has been domesticated and more-or-less contained. It is not that Christianity is a loving or peaceful religion. It's that Christianity has been restrained by modernity and civilization.

The thing is that you believe that corporate media reported events of violence of the past decade are representative of Islam, but if you were to actually look in through accepted methods of research, you will find out how the house of cards were built by the media and politicians and the self-proclaimed sham artists milking the current Anti-Muslim climate for making their own book deals, TV interviews, and honorariums. Instead of the hate sites and the hate books, you should read things which are from peer reviewed and academic sources and not from the so called ex-Muslims who are now on the speaking circuit funded by ultra right wing Christians and politicians. But, research requires effort. You cannot achieve this just by going to google images.
You're either missing the point or denying the truth, and I'm really not sure which it is. I agree that searching Google Images does not constitute research. I never said it did. It is simply a counterpoint rebuttal to your statement that Islamic violence is "minuscule". You'll note that violence in other religions does happen as well and THOSE RELIGIONS may actually be able to make and defend the "minuscule" claim, but than again, you'll notice that if you type "peaceful christianity" into Google Images you don't get an onslaught of brutally graphic, violent pictures. Are you starting to see my point???? I am only contesting your claim that violence in Islam is minuscule, not your theory that there's a worldwide conspiracy to slander Islam. Both are laughable, but the former is just an obviously biased view, and it's very likely that the only thing that IS actually minuscule is the amount of stories attached to those pictures that are actually fabrications to make Islam look bad.
In fact ... show me even one Islamic country that has never had Islamic endorsed violence and I'll concede the point immediately. That shouldn't be hard - since Muslim violence is "minuscule".

Nice try using anti-corporatism to excuse this endevor of yours. In reality the VAST MAJORITY of violence perpetrated by Islamists that is recorded in the media is recorded BY the Islamists themselves, and then spread all over the net and world media.
Why?
..because that is how terror is spread.
Now you must be very naive when it comes to this subject, or you support it and are trying to use misdirection. Surely for someone begging us to do research, which we have, you would be aware of this. The anti-muslim sentiments around the world are, in my opinion, rightly justified and supported by such research.

Obviously those peer reviewed academic sources go against the koran, so will be deemed invalid by you. However thought it was worth pointing out the irony of a religious person demanding more academically peer reviewed sources.
So far, I didn't come across any academic sources on the history of the earth and the universe which truly contradict the Quran. Feel free to share them if you have any.
How about the Quranic claim that all humans come from a blood clot. This is obviously NOT FACTUAL, and can be EASILY debunked by a 4th grade western science class pupil. How about the Quranic claim that the sun sets in a mud puddle? How about the quranic claim that Djinn whisper evil deeds into the ears of humans so that they may ignore the quran? Not one single scienctific proof for these at all.

If I read it out of context..then what is the fucking context of it?
If it is a metaphore, then what does it represent?
If it is poetry, then why must I believe it literally or be punished?
