Yep Americans use that term all the time as well.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I smoke cannabis in moderation (around 4-5 times a week, generally at night.) I don't see the problem with it. It really is radically different from other substances. “Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.
It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love. Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. It really is radically different from other substances. Don't get me wrong, there certainly are some people who can go back to moderate smoking or drinking after having struggles with addiction. But honestly I think it's rare that it doesn't eventually turn back into a serious problem for many people. For me it is too easy to slip back into old habits and convince myself that "things will be different this time" or "I'll do it right this time" or "I won't let it get out of control this time." But chances are things will not be different. I will not "do it right." I will probably not "keep it under control." That is the addictive part of my brain at work trying to convince me to give in. That's why I'm making sure that the weekend I had recently was a one time thing. I had fun, I don't regret it but I can't let it happen again. I have worked too hard to get to where I am to get back into that lifestyle. With that being said, if you enjoy smoking cannabis, more power to you! I loved weed and used to be a huge stoner and honestly I functioned fine on it. Went to work high, did everything high and those were some good times to be honest. Plus the weed now days is amazing.

AVRT is a powerful tool ... good on you to recognize your AV and take action against it. I can't do moderation, and will not try, myself. BTDTGTT.

Yea I've seen you talk about Rational Recovery. I attend SMART Recovery meetings and I'm sure we discuss a lot of the same techniques and tools there.

No doubt. I'm a cafeteria recovery guy, not wedded to one approach ... whatever's clever, right?
