Who's your favourite atheist?

RE: Who's your favourite atheist?
Whether Carlin ever stated that he was an atheist or not he is one. I'm just basing myself on the definition of atheist and atheism is not a "group," it's a declaration of non-belief in gods.

Carlin already said he is not an atheist, I'm non religious; just don't believe in a religious God. Neither George nor I can prove God does not exist, that's called keeping it real.

Atheists do not assume. They assess the evidence.

Oh, come off it, often enough I build natural history museums, when ever atheist try to give me a list of the greatest atheist people in human history.

1. It’s very short,
2 One sided with scientist and writers
3. Usually half the people on the list are not self proclaim atheist, I wonder how many of these great people have lost election over there assumption. I personally would rather see atheist or even more gays leaders than overly religious leader in office.

When did Carlin say he wasn't an atheist, and in what context?
For years I wouldn't call myself an atheist because the commonly held definition was somebody who is certain there are no gods, whereas I just don't believe in gods. I now use the correct definition, which includes both those positions.

RE: Who's your favourite atheist?
So just because you cannot prove the nonexistence of God you are not an atheist? Damn, you are right! You are an agnostic!! I am an atheist and just because I cannot disprove the nonexistence of God is not in my mind reason enough for giving him the shadow of a doubt based on ancient lore and myths. If that were the case then I would have to give Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and every other mythical creature the same chance. Just keeping it real as well.

Was this a reply to my post? Because if it is I should probably emphasise that I used to call myself agnostic but now hold the same position you describe. I've also looked into the matter more deeply in recent years and see even less reason to give supernatural entities any credence.

The bullshitometer is pegged. Now you are a museum builder, too. I thought you were an artist.

Actually, I was replying to Castles post Dave. He claims that he is keeping it real by not making a definite choice regarding his position about the existence of God. He bases it on his inability to prove that God does not exist.

My wife, found on these fora as BethK. (We use the same IP but not the same computer. Her computer uses Linux, which is user antagonistic to Wiccans - but at least it doesn't burn them - and mine uses Windows, which requires the proper incantations to invoke, and she doesn't know them.)
