I'm one of those people who are happy to get more adventure in the Star Wars universe, i'd never complain about them milking the franchise or whatever. What I complain about is that half the producers/writers/directors hollywood hires are imbeciles who shouldn't be let inside a two mile radius of such a series.

I don't really think it's the production people so much as it is that series tend to become formulaic over time: the rebels - with Truth and Justice on their side - are going to throw off the yoke of the evil Empire. Along the way, we get to watch a budding romance, see lots of weird aliens, and get treated to a heap of flashy-bangy stuff.
I walked out after half an hour of the last SW film. I thought it was well done (for what it was) but I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd seen it before. Boru

But who forced the writers/directors to produce a carbon copy of Episode IV? Probably execs who didn't feel like taking any risks whatsoever. This is why the main thread of Star Wars movies is trapped in self referential stagnation. That's why I have hopes for the anthology series to escape that.
