God and theists.

RE: God and theists.
You know reading posts from religious people on this forum makes me realize that they are more and more pushing God further away to the times before universe as we know it existed, to another dimensions and overall this supposedly omnipotent God is more like a very passive force. In other words Christians are retreating into the unknowable god of agnosticism. Scratch the surface of a Christian and you will find an agnostic. The Christian God is simply the agnostic god with window dressing.
Christians are operating from a conceptual vacuum, they are defending the rationally indefensible; they cannot even specify what it is that they believe in. Or, in more blunt terms, the Christian, when he asserts that "God exists," simply does not know what he is talking about. And neither does anyone else.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That's just your personal impression...and not a particularly accurate or insightful one. The more I learn about Scripture the more deep and fascinating it becomes, in other words, the more I learn the more I realize how much more there is to know.

This is the debatably the most curious thing about the Bible: Christians can read the same book over and over again, yet every time they gain new knowledge.

Magic 'god glasses' will do that.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

And this is the atheists dilemma, how to make scripture compatible with our knowledge of how the the universe works.
Evidently you are most familiar with scripture, so rationalize me this:

Mark 5.13:
Matthew 8.28
Luke 8.33

I am of course referring to the deranged pigs. Jesus came by a chained up loony in the midden area of a village, a Jewish village that owned a herd of two thousand pigs. Jews keeping pigs, say what? Anyway forget that for now, perhaps they were smuggling the porkies cross boarder to a more enlightened people who had a fancy for bacon.
Cut to the final seen, The loon begs Jebus to rid him of the demons and Jeebus obliges.
Quote:Mark 5
Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand and were choked in the sea.

To do this the man must manipulate energy in real time. What force does he use to do this?
Remember this is not a flashback acid trip from Revelation, this is documented in your synoptic gospels.

Please advise soonest.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Maybe Christians need to lay off the Bible reading for a while?

Seems like we have enough schisms as it is . . . .

That is not really a problem, considering the majority of them do not even read it.

Well, let's say in 2000 years, 70,000 out of how ever many did, and each one saw something different to schism over.

One might think 70,000 schisms would be sufficient.
