Benadryl isn't used to treat severe anaphylactic reactions.

Epinephrine is. And Benedryl, is in fact, commonly used as adjunct in addressing some of the symptoms in many pre-hospital and clinical settings.

Sure, an epi pen is used to treat anaphylaxis, but we're talking about a potential alternative for Benadryl, assuming an allergy to this antihistamine. Alternatives to Benadryl are many.

Benadryl is not a substitute for epinephrine. Epinephrine is not even an antihistamine. One is used to block histamines. One is used to save your life if you're in shock. It doesn't treat allergies. It treats shock. (Source: I have a bee allergy. Tibby has everything allergies. We've been advised what to do in the event of anaphylaxis. The answer is 100% epinephrine every time. In fact, they say potential side effects are worth it.) Long story short, she has options when it comes to antihistamines. There are few options when it comes to anaphylaxis. Epi pens are the main treatment. That said, she clearly didn't go into shock, so she shouldn't be too worried about finding an option for it.

Rhonda, a liter of Crystal Light Lemonade contains 21.7 mEq of K. Might be an easy and refreshing supplement source.

Thena broke a rule, whether intentionally or not. Its a very minor rule. Her post was edited to make it abide by the rules. As Shell pointed out, her actual final post even contained the same words that Thena was complaining about (that she was Googling) so there wasn't any need to even show the original post in the first place.

This whole thing has been blown out of proportion, for reasons I suspect have to do with the fact that Shell is my wife. Do we talk about the forum? Sure. Do I read her posts more than perhaps I read other users posts? Probably. If I see a rule violation in any post, I report it and deal with it.
