Anyone drive a plug-in electric car?
|
If they make my car into an electric car, and it runs just as well, I may consider getting one.

If they made an electric Mustang, they *could* theoretically make it run like shit through a goose, at least acceleration wise, but it's range would likely suck. Or were you talking about a different car? My 'stang! But, in all seriousness, while I don't have an electric car, I would get one if it ran well and the price was right. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? Lots of vids on YouTube.
One guy who bought a Tesla, documented all his costs in a spreadsheet. He used the average cost of fuel for a typical sized car to work out his savings. He charged his car at home (using the grid). Over the year, he saved on average $7 per week. Unless you can charge your car using free solar or a power wall, you're just shifting the pollution.
No God, No fear.

As far as pollution shifting goes, our electric generation here is substantially not from burning fossil fuel. Also the vehicle I am replacing gets about ten miles to the gallon. Gasoline prices here are amongst the nation's highest, and our electrical costs are the lowest.
There certainly is a shift here, but it's one from burning petroleum to hydroelectric.
Do golf carts count, lol? I put more miles on my golf cart than I do on my car.
