Am I Nuts? I like Bruce Lee.

1. Bruce Lee

6. Jean-Claude Van Damme
7. Hwang Jang Lee
8. Tony Jaa
9. Yuen Biao
10. Carter Wong

I kinda figured. But if you really did support fuck Norris we would have had problems. I can separate the man from the art, though. I do like Walker Texas Ranger when the episode isn't bat shit religious. Kinda like after Pat Benatar told me to sit down in front of 20,000 I was thinking, "Hey lady, I pay your salary". But years later I can now still appreciate the music without being fond of the person. Even with Dawkins, I love his work, but no, he is not someone I would want to hang out with. I like Walker for the writers, not Chuck, Chuck was nothing that show tried to portray.

What I love about Bruce is that he had the same attitude about sharing Kung Fu with the world, that I do about sharing due process in America, not that it is perfect. If you have something great, why would you not want to share it? Bruce was treated like a traitor in Asia, certainly not by all, but by many. It is the same fucking attitude I hate about our far right when they scream about not extending due process to non citizens. Holy fuck, if it is good enough for people born here, then it should be good enough the world.

I doubt that either Bruce or Chan if they could run in American politics today would run on the GOP party. But, if fuck Norris were to run the GOP would be the only party he could run on.

It may be spelled Bruce Lee but it's pronounced Bluce Ree.

Like I keep saying, idolizing or hero-worshiping anybody is a huge fucking mistake. Never meet your heroes. Pobody's nerfect, so fuck trying to emulate a person, emulate good ideas that have no context outside themselves and no bad crap attached to them innately.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Why shouldn't you meet people you admire? I would agree not to treat them like gods sure. But never meeting them?

I've meet Dawkins, love his work, but after meeting him I came to the conclusion I would not want to hang out with him or be his friend. Our personalities are completely different and he comes off as a bit of a stuffed shirt. Met Hitchens too, I would have hung out out with him, but he was an admitted alcoholic and heavy smoker and that killed him. Met Harris, like his work too up until he starts peddling Buddhism.

But I do get what you are saying. I used to worship Pat Benatar but that was back when I was a hormone driven ignorant teen. I did stupidly think at the time if we just met we'd be friends. Nope, that is not reality. If you are not close to someone say family or co worker or long time friend, you ultimately do not know that person and they are NOT your friend, even if you like their work. All you can say is you like their work.

Humans are just that, humans. No title, no paycheck no amount of fame will make a human perfect.

Just, don't put them on such a pedestal that finding out their dark side would devastate you. That's pretty much what it means. Your hero will become quite the villain in your eyes if you really know everything about them they'd like to hide. Not getting that heavily invested in them makes this less likely and even if you did find out their deepest darkest secrets, you wouldn't have such a high opinion of them that it would turn your world upside-down. That's why the religious are so stubborn; they can't deal with the fact that their gods are so awful, so they will not accept it. Because that's how deeply emotionally invested they get in their imaginary friends. It's fine to say, "Hey, that guy's pretty sharp, he's got lots of good ideas" or "Wow, that guy can shoot webs and stick to walls, wish I could do that" and be a fan, just don't go full fanATIC.

Nah.

Rambo should have died in the first movie.
