Floyd Mayweather vs Connor McGregor

It's because in MMA the stance that the fighters use is "squared up" because they have to defend against kicks, which makes for a bigger target. In Boxing the stance is more sideways which makes the target smaller and makes it easier to move your head.

Aldo ran straight into his first shot. Even in a sport where you don't use boxing techniques, a half way decent operator understands the basics of facing an opponent who depends on them.

Aldo was a different story. Dude was pretty much getting raped outside the ring, every single turn Connor harassed him. Besides, he's way out of him prime the Holloway fight proved that.

Also, lol hating Floyd for not being aggressive enough. He's called the greatest defensive boxer of all time for a reason.

Floyd is too smart of a fighter to play into what the fans want to see.

. . . or to keep his promises.

There's no doubt that given the rules of boxing and how the match went, Floyd was orders of magnitude more prepared that Macgregor.

I'm just a little salty because I wanted a more dynamic, punching fight.

Floyd will have to come to mma for that more exciting, dynamic fight, then again that fight would probably end within like 2 seconds Connor winning with a round house kick to the face. In an all out brawl Connor definitely has an edge over Floyd no questions there. Too bad for Connor boxing isn't nearly an all out brawl as he thought it was what with all those hammer fists and whatnot he threw in his fight 😂

There are no promises in combat sports. Floyd at least delivered. Moving forward and not letting the fight reach a decision. As far as being an "exciting" fight is a matter of personal opinion. I personally enjoyed the fight. And many did too. Connor promised to knock Mayweather out inside 4 rounds. What happened there??? Mayweather wasn't running. But you can't fault anyone for not delivering.

I was pumped about the fight. I was pumped that Conor was scoring early. I could see him getting more and more winded after each round, and I called his impending loss after 5 rounds. So I'm not really disappointed.

I probably would have liked the fight better if after waiting 10 rounds for Floyd to pull the trigger, they let him actually drop Conor. It was almost infinitely merciful that the ref prevented that instead of letting Conor eat about 20 shots of a Mayweather who still had plenty of gas in the tank.

But maybe another 5-6 shots just for the thrills, no? Smile

I did feel the ref could have let it go a little longer. But i can totally understand why the fight was stopped.

I'm a little suspicious by nature I guess.  Maybe there was a vested interest in making sure Floyd got the W.  Maybe there was a vested interest in making sure Conor never hit the canvas.

Or maybe he just saw that even BEFORE Floyd's surprisingly energetic flurries in the late rounds, Conor was so gassed that he was staggering and couldn't really keep his hands up.
