Neither does atheism hinder you in acting as a person of good will toward others. Same goes for xtians except that some of them seem to accept some fatalism toward their 'sinful ways', counting on supernatural intervention to handle the fall out when they act in ways that harm others.

Interesting how religion doesn't make a person good (they're doing that on their own, they just don't realize it), but it does make them bad when they otherwise most likely wouldn't be. Like the worst kind of treatment for an illness, it doesn't cure it, or worse, it makes you actually sick when you weren't.

Eh I was just so happy to find that I could openly follow atheist pages and didn't care anymore what my family and friends said to a point where I share atheist stuff from these pages. I loved how they would call the religitards out on their indecent ideas of hurting others because a book said to. I loved seeing the same mind set of we don't have to follow these archaic rules. Going from being racist and Christian to not seeing skin color and atheist was hard because you leave everyone you knew and loved behind. Half the people I know I can't stomach anymore and I know this is silly but the internet is the only place I've found people that seem to care about everyone else no matter what. I hate being around people that are close minded still because I'm afraid they will suck me back to what I used to be. To see my new 'friends' acting no better than the people that bring me down was just such a shock I couldn't stop thinking about it. I know everyone is human and has flaws I just didn't want to see these particular flaws...

What puzzles me is why an atheist - who presumably doesn't believe in any supernatural entities of any stripe, and hopefully understands that weather is not controlled by any entities and holds no messages for humanity - would make such a claim in the first place.
