What's everyone up to right now?

Leave here in one hour and making a (slightly) long weekend of it.

I'm doing something similar. I'm taking some unexpected, unpaid but entirely welcomed time off...

While I find a job...

But, I've never been so thrilled to get canned in my life. To say I hated my job would be like saying the surface temperature of the sun is a tad bit on the warmish side. Big Grin

The good news: There are lots of jobs in the oil and gas industry.

The bad news: There are lots of jobs in the oil and gas industry.

I really want out, so while I will be applying for oil and gas jobs (I do have a mortgage) where I know I can land a job, I'll also be looking into power transmission and distribution, printed circuit design and any others that I even remotely qualify for.

Best of luck, GB. Sometimes lemons can be made lemonade, and no doubt you'll find a way to make that happen.

Had someone pose a challenge several years ago about how they wanted their living room ceiling can lights to operate and never came up with a satisfactory idea that was (A) easy to use (B) economical with wire and © didn't take a shitload of switches.

Fast forward to a year ago, and a sorta kinda similar request arises on another project. Still didn't have 'the' idea, but I did come up with something workable, but it wasn't implemented. I think it was evident the solution wasn't optimal, but it being the best I could come up with at the time and we all agreed it wasn't worth doing.

Out of the blue today, inspiration struck. I just doodled out a wiring diagram for one can light, and don't see any problems with scaling it up to either project. LOL, I checked Ebay, there being a switch I was unsure if was still available, and that I had not seen an example of since the early 1990s. Lo and behold, bless the folks who don't throw stuff away, there are plenty of NOS switched that will do the job, and they are even available in the correct (matching) color.

The one annoyance? Switches are pricey, but don't need very many, and the ratings on them indicate they will last a very long time in a mere lighting application.

I'll get in touch with the people and see if they are still game for this. I'd love to see the idea implemented.

Turgid watching the Pats losing.

But I know not to celebrate...
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Holy shit! The Chiefs hung 42 on the Pats, in New England?!?

As much as it pains me to say it, this may be the year KC actually makes some post season noise. The defense is there, if the offense can just be decent they could well wind up representing the AFC in Minnesota next Feb.

Damn, typing that hurt!

I think mum's out of the woods.
She's still in ICU but I walked in this arvo and she was actually sitting in a chair.
I was so relieved.

I think out of habit, GB will somehow still make his lemonade taste oily and gassy! Big Grin
