If evidence for god is in abundance, why is faith necessary?

To the OP: There are two definitions of faith. One is belief in the absence of evidence. The other is trusting a promise. Sometimes they are both in play. For example, suppose my friend has never before asked to borrow money from me. I have no evidence that he will repay the loan. However, I do trust him because of evidence of his good intentions in the past. And yes, there is sufficient evidence despite your delusional incredulity.

So, present it and put us unbelievers to shame.

I think you greatly overestimate his understanding.

Yeah, but if it's not also making incremental backups, it's still gonna lose a lot a data. Angel

Matthew 6:1  "Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 6:6  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

You have trouble understanding the scriptures don't you. The first verse doesn't say anything about not witnessing, it simply states that Christians are not to practice self righteousness. The same goes for the second verse, it never references witnessing and besides most of my prayers are out of sight of others.

I think you don't understand the concept of chance.
Should I edumancate you?... meh... nothing better to do.

Chance, or luck, is the term used for when the outcome of some system cannot be predetermined by humans.
It simply means that the system has too many dependencies, too many moving parts, too many variables for us lowly humans to account.
If you could account for every single variable, chance wouldn't be necessary.

bah.... I was born and raised on a traditionally catholic country. I know it all, too! Tongue
Actually, no, I never cared for the Bible, nor the Quran, nor the Vedas, nor the Torah, nor the Red Book of Westmarch...

And you want "evidence"? From the Bible?
The only sort of evidence found on the Bible is circumstantial... places are named which were real. Some activities are described that could plausibly be done by the people at the time.
But all this sort of evidence can be found on any Marvel comic book, too - Spiderman is in New York, his uncle drives a car and is married to his aunt. His uncle gets shot and dies... just like normal people! Amazing!

You were once an atheist, you say?...

Define atheist.

Christ left such high quality and conclusive evidence His followers have only had 70,000 schisms in 2,000 years, millions of atheists are totally unimpressed with that same evidence, and literally billions of other folks believing in other non-Christ centric faiths have failed to convert to any of His inspirited schisms despite that evidence.

One might think the One True God might have done a tad better . . . .

Aww, go easy on him... It's only nearly his 14 billionth year on the job. He's just lacking in experience Devil

I'm a little disappointed that a former atheist would use an argument from ignorance and false dichotomy in the same paragraph. Just goes to show that not all atheists are rational skeptics.

That faith is needed in the religious community reasonably means that zero evidence is in existence to prove god is real.

That is not true. The whole Quran is a discourse on and on about the reason to believe in Authority of the family of Mohammad, but despite that, and despite all the evidence, and despite all the emphasis in sayings of the Prophet of that interpretation which Quran verifies through and through, people are still utterly blind.

You make the assumption with proofs, people will take a leap and accept what reason call to. But with proofs, I find people because of a plague we all plague each other with and a humor that has destroyed us as it destroyed nations before us, we do the opposite, we take refuge in ignorance and irrationality.

You don't get it, if you had the ability to "get it" then you wouldn't have bothered with such a half assed post.

It also shows that christians will say anything to make themselves sound like they're actually thinking.
