Are you quoting from the film 'Lawrence of Arabia'?
Lawrence says to Ali (at least a bit closer I think) "--- a little people, a silly people ,greedy, vicious and cruel" (Lawrence is commenting on Arab tribalism, which at that time kept Arabs at each others throats instead of against their common enemy, the Turks. )
Just think,if it was not for T E Lawrence,Saudi Arabia, that beacon of freedom in the Middle East, might not exist.
Yes I am pad...the funniest thing is that it has been ssleeping in the back of my mind until recently when watching all these fools demand religious priviliege and none more vocal than the "asylum seekers" destroying their detention centres and wondering why the Ausie Publlic are up in arms against them.

After all,it was firmly established by the Brits in the nineteenth century that God is English. This was just dandy news,as it justified them stealing more of the world from its rightful owners than the Romans. (and in retrospect too)
Let's not get started on the "English" we'll be here all night!!

Mm, yet no one, except organistations such as amnesty international, thinks to ask why they are there in the first place, instead of being processed in Australia (as were a great many more in the 1980's).
OR why a non-problem,by any realistic measurement, has been made into a tacky political issue instead of a humanitarian one.
I'd burn the fucking place down too if I was locked up in some remote place, perhaps for years, when I had done NOTHING ILLEGAL. It is NOT illegal for a person to turn up on a shore in boat and ask "please can I stay?"
The callous, inhumane treatment of refugees by our incumbent government has cost them my vote. The most recent idea is the plan to send several hundred to Malaysia, including many unaccompanied minors. Malaysia is NOT a signatory to the international convention of the treatment of refugees. We are. This brilliant idea is currently on hold, after being challenged as illegal in the high court.
This a sensitive topic for me. During the 1980's, I processed THOUSANDS of refugees, from Vietnam,Cambodia,El Salvador, Chile, Columbia and Eastern Europe, whilst working for Social Security. I saw first hand how it can and should be done. (under a conservative government too) This current treatment is based on pure bigotry and ignorant, stupid fear..

I went to a Carol Service a few years back. It was fun. Keep meaning to go to another one but when the time comes I usually forget. Why don't they do summer ones?
yeah - 'bout that ... I just sing along occasionally. I'm not about to go to a fucking Carol service. There's a limit man!

I like exchanging gifts, having a great lunch with my family, and of course timing my exit before first blood..
I hate the humbuggery, the maudlin sentimentality and the need for super extra caution to maximise my chance of getting from A to B to A alive rather than being killed by some fuckwit full of faux bon homie and alcohol.

I wouldn't call Villawood NSW a remote centre. Christmas Island is very close to Western Australia.
The destruction of these places do get people angry and then to find out that there are 4000 processed people in Malaysia just makes the "boat people" and their 'People smugglers' of Indonesia another target of Aussie anger.
Like you say pad.. This Labor/Greens govt has taken a process and done what it seems to do best...Just FUBA-Retrievability
