Men's Rights Movement
RE: Men's Rights Movement
I had no idea you 2 didnt like each other.

As for myself, I can't stand Khem. Have him on ignore.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Statistics about historical war deaths....Most are men. derp.
Men do what it takes to maintain this society and the burden is on men.
True, but this is not because of women. It's because the system was rigged that way by men. Men are sent into combat because they don't think women can handle it, and, in many cases, they may have a point, but there'd probably be more women in combat if they weren't socialised to be more maternal. The point is it's that way because the men made it so.

As an illustration, I can remember reading about the Pitcairn sexual assault trials in 2004, and how there were concerns that, without the convicted men (who made up the vast majority of the labour force) to man the longboats (the isolated island's lifeline to the outside world; it should be noted that food has to be ordered from the mainland three months in advance), it would be a terrible blow for the island's other residents. Those men who wound up being convicted actually prevented other people from learning how to do so.

Quote:Feminists think men make more money so they will have the power over women.
Feminists claim men make the rules at the expense of women.
Women are not oppressed, it's hateful and wrong to claim this.
I honestly don't know how much of the bullshit of the patriarchy was created with the intention of ensuring men have power over women and how much of it's because they simply didn't care about how it would affect them. I suspect a lot of it (especially when we're talking about problems in mainstream "First World" society) is the latter. But however it started, it's preposterous to deny that it ends up with women being oppressed.

Quote:Men are commonly falsely accused of sexual assault.
Could potentially be true, depending on how common is "commonly." I posted my estimate for how common false accusations in America are on another thread. It is reposted here:

Quote:We know false accusations do happen. The big question is not whether it happens, or how often. Wikipedia's page on false rape accusations includes several studies on the phoenomenon and they vary wildly on how often it happens (and I mean from 1.5% to 90% wildly). That said, they tend to skew towards the less common.

My own personal guess: the biggest study of the phoenomenon was by the British Home Office in 2005, and they concluded that 67 out of the 2643 cases they studied were possible or probable false allegations. Meanwhile, RAINN estimates 321,500 people are sexually assaulted per year. They also estimate only 341 cases out of 1000 will report what happened to the police. All three statistics, for reasons inherent in the nature of the offense, are very difficult to get a handle on, but it would seem they are reliable.

So, we take the math and come up with a number.
321500*.341*(67/2643)=2779 cases per year. (7.608 per day)

Naturally, when compared to the number of sexual assaults that happen in America every year, that's less than a percent. On the other hand, it's something that happens once every three hours or so (to be precise, about one every 3 hours, 9 minutes, and 16.466887 seconds.) Saying something is common in a vacuum is meaningless. I can remember once getting into a conversation at my writer's group and somehow the subject turned to someone who went outside naked. I mentioned that someone getting arrested while randomly naked is actually a fairly common occurrence. My source is an internet news show called What the Fuck is Wrong With You? where most programs include someone getting arrested while naked. (that said, it seems there's a drought of naked crazy stories at the moment: the last proper naked crazy story was over a month ago, though the most recent one has a man wearing only underwear raging about a woman who stole his jeep.) Perhaps for a weekly news show, a news story most every week about a naked person acting crazy counts as an epidemic, and in the real world, a false rape accusation every three hours might not add up to much.

Quote:Women commonly want to be "taken" by strangers, without consent.
Not all women are Ayn Rand.

Quote:Women have access to everything men have access to.
In theory, perhaps. In practice, not really. Just see the Pitcairn Longboat example I posted above.

Quote:Women claim that domestic violence and sexual assault is only committed by men against women.
I don't think they tend to deny it outright (except maybe for the people who created the Duluth Model, the most common intervention in domestic abuse, which explicitly works under the assumption that it's all man-on-woman). However, they do overemphasise the sort of non-reciprocal man-on-woman violence to the point where it seems like they don't care about the other types, like woman-on-man, man-on-man, or woman-on-woman or the roughly 50% of domestic abuse cases where the abuse is reciprocal. I suppose it's just a matter of marketing it to people.

Here's a good place to start talking about the oversimplifications behind the issue:

I’m fairly sure Thump and Thena are/have been bumping uglies. At some point, I pissed off one of them and ta-da. He’s a little haughty for me, but I’d be sad if he wasn’t around to razz.

In addressing the OP:

Well, of course the film would touch on legitimate concerns that warrant redress; It's a propaganda piece.
It's intent and purpose is to disarm critics, while gently fanning the flames of discontent.

And of course, recruit.

But make no mistake: The MRM is all but dominated by wretchedly misogynistic "New Atheists" who have taken to Alt Right ideology like flies to shit.
Their motives and goals are not what they purport to be.

It's a pity that people are so easily duped.

No, he's really mean to me personally. I've seen him be cool with most other people here, but ever since I first joined he's just been really nasty to me right off the bat for some reason. Besides the obnoxiously dishonest strawmen arguments, hes thrown out some really personal insults my way on a number of occasions. Why in the world would I like someone who talks to me like that?? Lol. It takes quite a bit for me not to like you.

People are forgetting it's not about gender, everyone has had experiences in life where they got interrupted while speaking, or have gotten paid more or less than they deserve. Or gotten chosen for a job at someone else's expense. There is no perfect equality. But it surely isn't about gender or race anymore. It's going too far.

I mean sure a list of pros and cons can be listed for both genders and the lists will even differ from people with different backgrounds and upbringing so I don't see the point in trying to embarrass yourself in public as a feminist or mra or whatever new shit people come up with soon.

It's because you were born the inferior gender...
