Zoster or Duplex?

Last time, it was Simplex, IIRC. I'm crashing the doctor tomorrow for meds. It's like a hammer totheside of myhead. Ihave experience with that, so I know.

Physical: Kidney stone. Damn, when that thing hit, I thought that was the last day of my life. I can laugh about it now but if you ever get one of those things, you'll think it's the end. Regardless of how much you might fear needles and doctors and hospitals, you'll run to one and plead for mercy.
Emotional: I'm not right there. I strongly suspect I suffer from Asperger's Syndrome. There have been a bunch of emotional pains and I can't really single any one of them out. The general feeling that you have no place amongst your peers really sucks though.
I wasted a lot of good years trying to be something I'm not in the pursuit of happiness and that really sucks too.

Hmmmm. Sometimes I think the general taboo (which might be getting better for this generation of upper teens) against disabled folks dating and marrying. But then sometimes I think my 15th surgery, which was immediately followed, on an emergency basis, by my 16th and latest (both in 1992). Just as I was looking to be discharged from a spinal tethering surgery, I spring a CSF leak. Very physically painful recovery, and traumatic on my family and just tiring on me.

For physical pain, probably that time I slipped on a snow-covered patch of ice and did an involuntary front split, ripping the shit out of my left hamstring. A kind passer-by helped me hobble back to my front door a block away, whereupon I phoned in to work and somehow drove myself to a sports medicine clinic. Any attempt to sit down was excruciating. Only thing that saved me was that I was diligent about applying ice packs for the first 2 days, and managed to make it to work and band practice on the third day.
As for emotional pain, definitely my divorce.

Edit Reason: Lose and loose are two different words
)
For physical pain, it’s a toss up between:
My back surgery when I was 14. Two 18” rods to combat an extreme case of scoliosis (my spine curved to the left 89 degrees just behind my heart and lungs, and then slowly curved back to my tailbone). Spent a day in ICU with 4 IVs because my veins suck (one in my right hand, one in my left hand, one in my left wrist, and a central line), a nasogastric tube, and breathing tube. They said it was impossible to vomit past the breathing tube. I proved them wrong. I spent 10-14 days in the hospital, and then another 20 or so out of school (my school aide came over to my house every day, so I could keep up with my classes).
And
Two years ago, a kidney stone blocked my left ureter. My kidney swelled up with urine and puss, and I was septic. Had a 105 fever, and generally felt like shit. The ER doctor was amazed I was still conscious. Because of the sepsis and my rapid heart rate, they were afraid my heart was affected (it wasn’t, thankfully). I had to have emergency surgery to have a stent put in, so the urine and puss could clear. Then I went on a strict antibiotic regimen, which negatively affected my bowels, causing me to lose a fair amount of weight. The stone itself was lasered about a week before my birthday last year. The new stent was removed in my urologist’s office. I think that counts as 3rd base with the medical assistant.
For mental pain, a combination of all the shit my father put the family through, and trying to deal with my permanent physical disability.

How does the calculus of souls equate quantities vs qualities ??
I'd rape the time line to get Brian back.
How many of the rest would I need to 'spare' to expend the same damage to the time line to equal what I'd do for Brian ?
5? 10? 20? All 40+ ??
And what damage to the time line would I view as 'acceptable'? Butterfly effect after all, maybe saving them causes a worse problem, but again, how do I compute that ?
Strangers vs good friends I consider closer than my all my relatives? I could tolerate quite a bit of collateral, as long as they were safe, afterall. Everyone else can fuck the timeline to try and get their own back.
Eff 'em.
