A problem with the word "atheist"

RE: A problem with the word "atheist"
Theists make such a big deal about not believing in all Gods but one vs not believing in any at all. One might think they'd be a tad more enlightened about disbelieving God claims.

Makes a big diffy poo when it's the one they've homed in on though.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I suggest we use "not dumbfucks".

I've dated a few hot dumbfucks in my time. No complaints.

All blondes?

But I hate the idea of abandoning a word because of uninformed or willfully ignorant people.

This.

Listen, we are atheists. I wish none of us would pussy-foot around it. I know there are young people dependent on fundy parents or work for fundies but for the most part, we shouldn't shy away from the word. A-Theist = Not a Theist. That's us.

Aside from people in vulnerable situations, I believe there is no excuse for shirking away from self-identifying as an atheist. We aren't going to gain mainstream acceptance by cowering in a closet. Unless you are in a very vulnerable situation, grow a pair and let the world know. Stand up and be counted.

The homosexual community didn't make the progress it did by being timid. They boldly asserted their existence and their rights. We should be doing exactly the same thing.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Yes i think that too, you would think they understood not believing in gods very well.

I don't subscribe to the 'they are atheists to every other god' claim mind, i think the mindset is different, and rather abuses the meaning of atheist.

Exactly. They're still dependent on their sky daddy, even if they don't believe in other such... sky daddies.
The word bed actually looks like a bed.

OP, you leave my master, the unholy one, out of this!

I mean...

That would be an antitheist, if you were against god, right?

As a child I heard talk of those Satan worshipping child sacrificing atheists. Yea, they thought we would waste a delicious baby as a sacrifice to Satan. Ha

Wait, that isn't what we're doing here... and here I joined because I thought this would be an opportunity to worship a mythical figure portrayed as the root of evil in every context! Wrong forum for me I guess.  Sad

No, you are not paranoid.
Unfortunately there are a lot of fundamentalists that think in that way.
However a lot of theists (especially non religious theists) like me think that atheists will wake up one day and they will reject their fantasy that God doesn't exist so they too will merge into the ocean of bliss.  Lightbulb

Sounds like a drug dream in a world created by a junkie. Ever considered detox?
