Not at all Khem.  
Evolution of the body is basically irrelevant because when you leave your dead body you can not use it in any way so what intellectuals (athests included) believe    that should have so much importance is nothing but dust.  
However is a different story for your consciousness.
Achieving consciousness is like money that you put in a bank.
They are very very valuable so progress within has very little to do with religion.
God never started any religions even less He may agree with what religions say but on the other hand he cares a lot about individual progress.
