When was Atheism a self help book . Why would i define help by atheism . I define help by my disbelief in bigfoot .

Theists are pretty beyond help until they realize on their own how full of shite their beliefs are. Either they have the kind of mind required to develop enough rational doubts, or they don't.
Yeah, you can try to convince them that their beliefs are nonsense, but their likelihood of responding properly is based on them being the right kind of rational person I mentioned above anyways. And often, when you try to help, they actually double down and believe harder, if anything.
If someone is like Huggy, who can read the Bible and not see even one contradiction in it when it's absolutely chock full of them... then that person is very very much beyond help.

The one thing you need to remember is that religion (specifically Christianity in the west) has had literally thousands of years of monopoly on the whole 'charity' idea, so they have a massive head start in terms of numbers and money.
What about youth guidance outreach? For instance, groups and books that deal with teen angst or prepare young adults to face adulthood in a secular way. Are there any secular rites of passage? Woodstock for atheism?

Not to mention all the atheists who give help through religious charities, and there are a lot of them.

Obviously we don't and can't help people because we lack the object morals backed by the omniscience of the Christian God.[/sarcasm]

My experience as well. Among various other charities that are regulars on my giving list, I donate to an organization that helps street people. Their inspiration is religious but they do great work.
(All the other recipients are non-religious, though -- Medical charities (4), arts groups (2), and the Humane Society.)

Yes, there are secular charities.

My largest charitable donations (to humans) is the one homeless shelter in town that is not religiously affiliated.
Not sure about secular youth services/outreach. That's not been in my wheel house for years.

I think being charitable is a personality trait.
When I've done charity work with religious groups I often see the same faces over and over again.
I suspect if I went to an actual church on Sunday I'd see a lot of new faces.
The more involved I get, the more surprised I am, as an atheist, at the amount of good work that gets done, unadvertised with no preaching.
Religion is one big lie but charity is one of the things it's got going for it. That and fellowship, both of which can be found in abundance in the secular world also.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is charity outside of religion, but what gets done inside religion is really good and extremely important also.
