I'm 35, but I'm aging like a dog.
You're younger than me. By three years. But I do agree that it seems I am aging that way as well.

The last two times I did it I really pushed it and felt like I was going to quit halfway through the routine. I've never really felt that kind of challenge just doing what I used to do previously which is basically 20 minutes on 3 different machines, sort of fast, steady paced cardio.
I think there's probably some benefits to doing both types of cardio but at the moment this definitely feels way more testing doing the high intensity work out, my lungs are left gasping and my heart pounds like crazy.
The day after the high intensity work out we were doing plank competitions in work again and it felt easier than I remembered, I got to 5 minutes 1 second which beats everyone but one guy who I work with.
On a similar note I got challenged in work as to if I could pick up this huge heavy guy who works with us in a bear hug which I managed to do. Yeh there were girls watching which added to the reason why I had to do it. Other than these silly competitions I try and not be competitive with lifting and all of that, I know too many people who have wrecked their bodies trying to be the biggest and best. I think it's sometimes better to maintain, tone up a bit and add variety to work outs rather than wrecking your joints trying to keep lift heavier and heavier.
High intensity is awesome. I used to love doing split runs with sprint intervals. Go hard until you're just about to puke, then slow it down. Now I'm old, and I don't even want to sweat.
*my bold*
No way. You're merely old er so far. Old is a good way off. But the better you adapt now to your slower metabolism and the more active you stay, the better time of it you'll have then.

Happy to oblige. The truth is I don't even think of myself as "old" most of the time. Going to the Y all the time to work out I'm surrounded by people 10 to 30 years older setting one hell of a good example of what is possible. We just had tea in the garden for Lia's walking group yesterday, most of whom are 10 to 20 years senior to myself, so I get my opportunities to be the 'young one'. You must still get that feeling in lots of situations.

Yeah, if I sit for too long my back and hips get stiff. It's embarrassing. I probably seem much older when I first stand up. Because I often can't stand straight.

That used to happen to me all the time (the standing straight thing), but physical therapy reallllly helped my back. I still have some trouble, but it's like night and day.
Day 5: Had to eat the husband today. It broke my heart today, but the hunger inside me was too strong.
Anyway, had a chocolate muffin provided by the weight loss food company. It was pretty good. Lunch was a peanut butter bar that was seriously hard from sitting in a backpack cooler all day while we walked around the New England Aquarium. I ate a bunch of veggies too. Tonight, it's beef chili, more veggies and another protein bar. Two more days and I'm on the normal part of the diet. I'll be glad to kiss this 1,000-calorie-a-day diet goodbye.
Oh, and I've lost three pounds in four days.
