Trolling is not allowed. We consider trolling to be repeatedly doing any of the following:

Making provocative posts.

This is what has ultimately gotten me banned on other forums. Oftentimes, I simply have opinions that are very contrary to almost everyone else’s. Mods start to think I’m just stirring shit up or else the mods are angry about what I think and I get “fuck you banned” for trolling. I don’t think it’s trolling if it’s what you really think. I’m not giving examples because then it’ll turn into an argument over the examples.

I don’t really care and I recognize and respect that forums don’t even need a reason to toss anyone’s ass. I just felt inclined to say it in advance.

RE: Trolling
I think it's tough to get banned for trolling here.
Unless that's all you do right from the start. :-)

RE: Trolling
I’ve never seen anyone banned here just for stating an opinion. It’s when it’s done in a way that is attempting to disrupt discussions or to antagonise someone that it becomes a problem. If you’re not out to do that, then you should be fine.

We have several regulars here who have plainly stated the most disgusting opinions.

You know it's only trolls who worry about being labelled as trolls.
I trust you have nothing to worry about.

Aren’t contrary opinions by their very nature disruptive and antagonistoc?

Not to anyone in particular. If you followed a specific person around and immediately disagreed with everything they said, then that would be antagonising; or if the "opinions" were regularly aimed at forum members.

And they don’t disrupt things as long as they are presented in some sort of context, not repeated endlessly, and not randomly thrown into other discussions. This isn’t a place where people are scared of opposing opinions.

Unless someone goes ape shit here they will be given fair warning before they get banned. They have to be trying hard and willing to keep pushing to get flushed. I’ve been here a long time, and I used to be on staff, and every banning has seemed fair to me. I’ve even pushed for people to be banned who haven’t been.

We have a Christian rape apologist on here who blamed me for my own rape because I didn't report it. He wasn't banned over it. I suspect you'll have nothing to worry about.

I disagree TrollyMcTrollface.

That kind of depends on the subject of the matter and on the way opinions are expressed and defended.

In other words - if you want to express unpopular opinions, you're going to have to be prepared to present and argue your point in a sincere manner.  Trolling is a bit like porn - hard to define, but you know it when you see it.
