The fact that your comments are wrong

Other than that, what comments have I made that are wrong?

Your claim that you aren’t a troll, for starters, lol.

Yes, they would disagree that we are already in hell here. They think there is an actual place we go to that is hell. That's why I mentioned the differences in the location of the redemption (and of course the redeemer would be a biggie for the Christians)

They would disagree that you believe in their god. When I was a Christian I would have told you that you were worshipping a false idol if you think god is just a big energy. If you don’t believe in their specific beliefs then they won’t agree that you’re believing in the same god as them. Which is only important because you keep saying “we” like they’re part of the same group as you. You’re referring to this big majority but the majority thinks you’re wrong too.

Anyway, maybe you’re not a troll but I still wish there were something more exciting going on at af than this old thread that’s been going on repeat for 800 years

I'll bet you fooled more than me.  I guess you could call a potential god arising in consciousness a 'higher' power, but if you have a handle on what you believe which permits you not to hold it literally, do you think it is a good thing that so many other believers believe in something kind of out there?  I mean, maybe as atheists we are apt to be too reflexively dismissive, but is believing that obedience to an all powerful all knowing judging god is the true meaning of existence really all that uplifting?

I don't call our consciousness a higher power, because all it is, is who we are and there are conscious people doing horrifying things all over the place. Nothing "higher" about them. There is nothing "out there" about believing in God. It is the only logical assumption that exists.

Yes it does make you willfully ignorant, AND it makes you a liar.

That's what it says and here's the article again.  https://www.scientificamerican.com/artic...milestone/
Also, I do not lie. I may make a mistake due to the fact that I am human, but I do not lie and I do like being personally attacked regarding my integrity. You know NOTHING about me.

You I do. You are a liar. A willfully ignorant liar.
There is NOTHING in the article that even comes close and you can quote NOTHING from it that says what you claim.

I agree and I was a Christian for many, many years. In my church, we fully accepted the beliefs of the entire world of believers as having value. We also believed that it was all the same God, but I went to a progressive non-denominational Christian church. I know some are very orthodox, so you are probably right that many of them would think that way.

@Everena

Why are you here? Surely it’s not to learn about the reasons people have for being atheists, as you haven’t asked anyone a single question about themselves. So...you’re here because...?

Even if that seems to be so, the devil is in the details of what you believe about that God.  I suspect fundies are not being as well served by their belief as you are with yours.

Okay, I for one am off to bed.  Oh my, how did it get to be 8:30 pm already?  I wonder if this thread will hit a 1,000 pages before I return?  Hang in there if you're still having a good time.  Or take a break and make that intro thread.  Although honestly, after showing yourself to be so responsive and fun, no one is going to want to tip toe around the Introductions forum on their best behavior.  But I for one would enjoy getting some background to understand what brought you here.  (Even I made an intro thread .. eventually, but then I was raised by wolves.)
