US - raise the gas tax

BINGO.........

It isn't a matter of wanting to rob anyone, or have a nanny state. It is a matter of those with more have more responsibility for the environments they succeed in.

If anyone has ever studied the tax rate history between 1945  and 1980 there was one point where the effective rate on the top earners was 90% but after deductions 50%.

So if you make 10 Billion a year, cry me a river if you only take home 5 billion. The idea in the west isn't to compete to become third world labor, but if we gave the GOP everything they wanted, we'd be that third world labor that CEOs love.

Is there any regressive tax that republicunts and their libertarian outriders won't champion?  Gas taxes.  Sales taxes.   Flat taxes.  Poll taxes.  Property taxes.  User fees - they try not to call those "taxes."

Raise the income tax on rich motherfuckers and you won't have to suck the poor and middle classes dry.

They just took down the estate tax, I think, which mainly effects rich people. They try their damndest to run this county without taking money from where the majority of their money is. Like having a fattened cow in the pasture, and asking how we're going to pay for food without actually eating dear old Bessie.

I think New Zealand should tax all foreigners living abroad.

They tried to keep it fair here by putting a federal tax on toilet paper.

I always have to smile somewhat ruefully when I see Americans complain at the price of petrol. In the good old US of A the average cost per litre is between $ 0.70 and. $0.85. in the UK its £ 1:39. If our petrol cost 85 cents I reckon there would be dancing in the streets.

I would put a tax on Rachel Welsh. At my age, I have a feeling she'd put quite a tax on me.

It probably doesn't help that, since we live in such a big country, families may need to travel a lot to see each other regularly, so we need our gas to be pretty cheap.
