And the problem with that is what exactly?
It's letting a minority opinion, based completely on emotion (in this song example "it feels rapey/creepy"), dictate what should be said or heard.

As oppose to letting majority opinion dictated by emotion (i want to hear this song. It's nostalgic for me etc etc etc ) dictate what should and should not be heard
Plus i point out no one is stopping them from hearing the song

If there is one thing I hate about fucking xmas it is going into every store and being assaulted by this sappy, bullshit, xmas music that they insist on playing.
But I don't go to the manager and complain. I do my best to tune it out.

And a person could simply not look at the poster i showed above . This aside the point . Also i could start making parallels between this thread and the confederate statue thread .

The problem is who decides.
Boru
Still not seeing the problem. The radio station is a private enterprise funded by corporate and other advertisers. Who do you think should decide and why?

But I’m not saying the station was wrong to pull the song, just that it was stupid. It’s their station, they can play (or not play) whatever they like.

Stupid according to who?
The station didn't think it was stupid
Those protesting didn't think it was stupid

Boru 1. Okay
2. Indeed that is a problem and one that's not going away

Boru Show me the harm of seeing this cartoon ? will someone become a racist by simply looking at it? Will they start lynching black people ? Whats the harm other then a minority at the time being offended and i'm sure at the time and for some time after it was made people thought this was totally innocent .
The difference is that real and measurable harm has been done by racism, and the cartoon is blatantly racists. Real and measurable harm has also been done by sexism, but it hasn’t been shown that this song is sexist.

Boru Really blatant to who? . I don't imagine a person in the deep south in 30s would agree with that assessment to him it's likely just a picture of a black man eating watermelon . Indeed their is real harm with sexism . But the question is what is sexism and who decides ?

The issue is one of line drawing. What happens the next time some other asshole decides they don't like a particular song and demands that it be banned? Does the station cave on that, too? As noted above it is a private enterprise which presumably has a music director who decides what they broadcast.
There is no right to "not be offended." Some people seem to go out of their way to be "offended." Almost as if they find it empowering because someone listens to them.
