I watched the video and read a couple of news stories about this.  At this point, it isn't known if ' ease of access, flooded market, and crappy vetting laws' contributed anything to this crime.

Lots of stories about people selling tons of guns without licenses, shootings, suicides, accidental shotguns from the backseat, etc.

Agreed.  Any (or all) of the causes Brian listed are perfectly plausible but - at this point - it's a bit premature to claim that this particular shooting happened because of ' ease of access, flooded market, and crappy vetting laws'.

Yes it did. I am tired of people, not you here, but in general, using excuses like "there was no way of knowing" or "we cant presume guilt with no record". He got access, and regardless of how, he still got access. 

I am sick of motive being harped on too. I don't care about legal or illegal or motive. Columbine, Newtown, Va Tech, Vegas, Pulse, Parkland, ect ect ect, all happened because a disturbed person, regardless of motive, got access.

Australia had Tasmania and after that, they pulled their heads out of their asses, I do not see why we can't do the same. 

The reason we have the level of firearm violence is because the corporations who make them love profits and use the NRA leadership to con gullible people into protecting the industry.

Just for fun - ask Brian what his plan is - to "unflood the market".

Boru this is not "pre mature" on my part.

This is a 40 year old problem started when the NRA, which got hijacked by corporate interests and went from being a safty org to being nothing more than a heat shield profit lobby.

I have mentioned it in prior posts many times on this issue. My 1984 jr year HS yearbook as a picture of the McDonalds shooting in it. The  last time the GOP did anything reasonable on firearm safety laws was the Brady bill. But even that was neutered to the point of virtually being useless because of all the obstruction by the NRA leadership and the industry holding the nation hostage.

Parkland I think was the one event that is finally starting to change the tide. But, it should not take countless events, week after week, month after month, year after year, to stop it. 

It is sad that America is a country where people have to fear getting shot doing anything, shopping, going to school, going to a bank or bar. The amount of firearm death in America is simply unacceptable and letting the NRA and GOP and industry hold us hostage is why nothing effective ever gets done.
