How do satirists respond to criticism from the ones close to them?
March 12, 2019 at 5:44 pm
What if a satirist makes fun of a certain opinion, and a friend or family member has said opinion? What if the latter feels offended by it. In this situation, the satirist didn't mock the other one in particular, only the belief. How do satirists usually respond and how should they?

I make fun of positions closely held by people in my family all the time. Unlike nutters, my family realizes that I didn't go out seekin the devil at a crossroads, I'm just funny like that- so it's not an issue. We all come together for a bbq, and I find a way to make a potato salad based jesus joke and we all laugh and that's that.
IDK how to to respond to your question directly other than to tell you to get better at telling jokes.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Some people can't take a joke and some have intolerance at certain types of jokes.

Stop inviting Jonathan Swift round for dinner. That should solve it.
