Trump under fire for racially-charged tweets against congresswomen

RE: Trump under fire for racially-charged tweets against congresswomen
So does repping the other brands. It might be a pleasant fiction that these people are motivated primarily by money rather than assent to the ideology. Us choosing some other bad thing rather than accepting the obvious..... but here’s the kicker, if they’re cynically trading in racism for cash.....that’s pretty godamned racist. Plenty of people we easily identify as racist as all get out do it for free.

“Distraction and gamesmanship” is starting to look like this cycles “economic anxiety”.

-idk that it was ever really driven into the shadows, either. It certainly wasn’t something anyone had reason to hide where I’m from. Disagreeing with the racist set is what you kept to yourself.

Out of civility, if for no other reason. Even that still seems to be in effect.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Oh, I didn't mean they weren't/aren't racist.  But at this point in politics it's more acceptable to be blatant about it.  Standing up against Trump regardless of your reason (you aren't racist or you really are trying to represent your constituents) is a good way to become a target.

I get you, but I’m wondering whether the hallowed out remains of the gop actually are hostages.

The simpler explanation is that they don’t push back because they flat out agree.

For context, I think that many of them criticizing candidate trump was the better example of gamesmanship and distraction. Following in lock step now being their truest selves.

I get that.  I used to live in SC.  I worked for several years for a company that made loans that were backed by the Small Business Administration.  This place was a haven for The Good Old Boy Network.  It was so obvious in that they had one (count them) one black man on the board of directors.  They had to have a token not white person.  I also think this show of diversity was required due to the backing we received from the government.

One day the main man was talking to a group of us about how he had been raised in an unusual situation at the time as both his parents worked (his mother had been a teacher).  He went on to say that they had a black maid when growing up.  Then he said he loved her (the maid) like he loved his own mother but he wouldn't sit down to Sunday dinner with her.

That conversation was about 15 years ago and my jaw is still slightly dropped over it.  Stunning in it's blatant racism though he didn't see it as such...and neither did the other people in the room.

Now it's okay to say things like that on a public stage...and be applauded for it.

-and lest anyone imagine that it’s only being normalized on the right. CNN decided to resurrect Richard Spencer for a grip and grin on racist tweets........

I am not even surprised that there's people out there who wholeheartedly support him, despite the endless reasons to shun him from polite society. This man is a pedo, a rapist, a liar, a traitor to his nation, a racist, a failure as a businessman, and an idiot in general.

None of that matters to his base. They are mostly evangelical christians, and those kinds of unseemly people don't care about shit unless it's not born and dwelling in the body of a female, having consensual butt sex, or scissoring while not hot and exclusively for their pleasure. It's not a far stretch to see why they don't have a problem with his sexual assault on children, as the children were already born, and it's something they do, and hide behind their piety. His god is money, and though most of them don't have any, deep down inside them, it's their god too.

I get why gross people like a gross man. I do.

I wasn't shocked, even before he ran, with him perpetuating the birther bullshit. What shocked me however, is that I mistakenly thought he'd be too much for the rest of the party and they'd drum him out. Sadly I was wrong.

The sell of fear is a strong force in politics, and even outside this country, in human history worldwide, that political sell of fear can lead entire societies down very dark roads. I think this unfortunate part of or species is that once we get used to a pattern, a social norm, we fear change and all it takes is a politician to say evil things like "I got your back, we are the true ones, we won't lose our spot, it is their fault, they are destroying us, and I am the only one whom can save you. I will put you back on your rightful place on top."

And the further out you get from a horrible event, the people whom lived it get old and die so fewer people live to serve as a reminder.

It is important that we do not sugar coat our history, and not gloss it over like we had for far too long.

You've been wrong about every aspect of trump including his election to POTUS. what make you think you have any clue as to how he works or how he got to power and will stay in power? the world is not black and white as you and yours suppose. when you get that (not everyone is a bigot who does not do things the way you do them) you'll begin to understand why Trump is in office and why your guys aren't.

Your posts serve as a constant reminder of exactly why trump is in office.

You’re even using the language of a dictatorship in describing your own new god.

I do have every damned clue as to how he works.

Scapegoat and vilify anyone whom dares question him. Scapegoat and vilify entire races and religions. Blame everyone and offer yourself up as the only solution.

Not my fucking fault you cant see that he is nothing but an asshole pathetic bully.

As it currently stands what is characterised as "far left" is mild social democracy, the right is Austrian School economics with far right social policy and the centre is economically identical to the right while paying lip service to fairness on social issues. The dems* badly need to swing somewhat to the left, a large part of their problems (once you take out the elephant in the room of republitraitor vote stealing) being that to too many people there near indistinguishable to their opponents.

The problem with the quoted bit is not that the two party system stops laws being enacted, it's that the governmental system was specifically designed to fossilise certain categories of law. The republitraitors are simply using the government as the founding fathers wanted and expected, to put a brake on democracy in favour of oligarchy.
