Separated from who? We don't know anyone in our lives who calls himself "God". You're arguing this God-guy is our flatmate or something? Big Grin

Personally, I'm already separated from God and have been for many many moons now. Then again, I wouldn't exactly describe my life as a paradise at present, but that's got nothing whatsoever to do with any godshaped hole in it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I don't understand how some theists can candidly say how you will burn in hell for eternity. I don't see how they could live their life happily, knowing and understanding that good people, moral people, are burning and being tortured profusely, and this will never end. If I did believe in these tales, then I would be so pained by them, that it would cripple me.
This god character sure is an asshole.

Assuming this to be the case, do you think I deserve it? Bear in mind my 'crime' is 'not believing in something I saw insufficient evidence for', and my punishment would be eternal torment (FOREVER).

Do I deserve it?

Oh, that's easy. Their fucking preachers tell them that they are right and anyone who does not think the same way as them goes to hell.

The fact that the morons fall for that line of shit really should tell you everything you need to know about theists.

Here is a god that creates a system, where some of us do not have the ability to believe he exists without being provided with evidence. And he did this with the advanced knowledge that we were destined for eternal torture for a finite thought crime.

That is the bottom line, that billions of people were created by this god with the advanced knowledge that they were destined for eternal torture, and Christians don't seem to have a problem with that.

It is indeed a great thing that this god does not actually exist. It is unfortunate that so many of his worshipers do.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

And you can be a complete arsehole your whole life and say at the end" gee god I'm really, really sorry" and bang, you're in heaven.
Sounds like justice to me.

Maybe that's why the xtians claim that their religion isn't based on works.
