Random Thoughts
RE: Random Thoughts
I like it when people tell me, ‘OK, you’re technically right...’ because technically is the best kind of right.

No matter how well backed up it is, deleting a copy of 1 TB of computer files is anxiety provoking.

At work.

Part of a discussion about some of the states of affair in the State's.
Me: "Well.... the BLM nor ANTIFA seemed to manage being able to storm the Capital building, for one difference. "
Other: "But any one can put on a hat and wave a flag. So it could have been BLM or ANTIFA in disguise storming the capital."
Me: *Blinks as brain begins error correction check on ears... * "Riiiiiight. So, by that metric, it could have been Right-wing Trumpists infiltrating the riots previously in those other cities before, right?"
Other: "Oh there's no use talking to you!" Add comments about 'Logic' and always wanting to'Be correct'.

But otherwise t'is a great bunch of folks to work with. Tongue

Somehow, I’m really starting to appreciate the simplicity of buttered toast once I had to go on the BRAT diet. Also, somehow I did not know that Shedd Spread is dairy-free until today.

We gave up on dairy substitutes years ago and just use butter on our toast. We use about a pound of butter for 4 people about every 2 months. I think that we can live with that. I love bacon, too! I bet I eat 2 pounds a year. Hmm, might have some bacon for (part of) breakfast, tomorrow. It's been a few weeks.  Snacks

Yeah, I’ve been having stomach trouble (likely food poisoning from a bagel with shockingly well-concealed mold) for a few days and am semi-currently on a BRAT (or, more accurately, a BAT, with my tastes) diet. I say semi-currently because I decided to have a normal dinner and I’m not even sure if I’m out of the woods yet. I’m getting some rumblings, but not much more. And dairy products were singled out as something to avoid by the urgent care facility. Fortunately, I should be back to normal in a few days, if I’m not there now.

On the subject of food

This is obviously a very old proverb, back from the times when one fish was enough to feed a man for the whole day. I mean how dietary needs changed over the centuries.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Modern day Chicago version.

"Give a man a Big Mac, 2 large fries, 12x chicken nuggets, large chocolate thickshake and an apple turnover and he'll live for a day."

"Don't give him any of that shit and he'll live a lot longer"
No God, No fear.

Or when that was all they had to eat.

My two favourite versions:

'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Don't teach a man to fish and you feed yourself. He's a grown man - fishing's not that hard.' - Ron Swanson

'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer for the rest of his life.' Anon.
