Aaaaaaand that's the kind of emotional post ^ I've sort of come to expect from Onlinebiker.
Ah well.
Emotional??
Maybe a bit disgusted with the anti-gun folks stupid shit.
.....
It's like this guys --- every law you have passed has done squat to curtail gun violence.
....
Ever lost your wallet? Let's look at it from a simple perspective you might be able to comprehend. We'll equate the gun violence problem with a lost wallet. We need to find the answer. OK???
The laws you have passed - making people pass background checks, waiting periods, ect --- are all just like you reaching into your back pocket every 2 minutes, looking for your wallet. It's an empty gesture - but it makes you feel like you're trying. Sorry - it's not there. But you didn't really expect to find it there, did you? But - you still couldn't stop yourself from sticking your hand in your pocket.
What is the point of making a guy who has bought one gun - two guns, or a thousand guns already - from having to fill out a 4473 and getting a NICS check??? It doesn't even keep track of guns sold. You probably didn't know that- did you? All those forms? They are kept at the gun shop -NOT sent to the government. After 10 years - they get to dispose of them. That's right -- the gun shop tosses them. Many shops actually burn the forms. I know. I've seen it done. If you ever seen the basement of the gun shop I worked at - the boxes upon boxes of forms stored there would boggle the mind.
Do you have ANY comprehension what running the NICS system costs?? And for WHAT??? The number of people who knowingly try to beat the system is MINUSCULE.. Don't believe me? Look it up. BATF has the data available to anyone who really wants to know. The reason??? Criminals and crazies aren't always stupid. If they KNOW they can't legally buy a gun - they'll go find some other way of buying a gun. Like a private sale.
Here in Michigan - if you sell a handgun -- the buyer has to have either a concealed carry permit - or a "Permit to Purchase" that they get from local law enforcement - after that agency runs a background check on them. But if you are selling a shotgun or rifle -- no permits are needed. Money and gun simply change hands.
I cannot as a private citizen run a NICS check on a potential gun buyer - as it (as stated to me by BATF) "It is a matter of protecting the buyers privacy". (I know this because I tried years ago when I was selling off part of my collection at a gun show. I ended up being tricky. I put a form 4473 on top of a stack of papers - and told each buyer "we can do the paperwork now" -- when making a sale.... If they objected - I refused the sale).
The whole system of "gun control" you have -and want - is an empty pocket.
You need to control the problem people.
But - that actually takes effort.
They are not cooperative like the law abiding folks - who are not the problem.
