Can't get the link to work here but.

Can't get the link to work here but.
I am an underdog type of guy when watching nature shows. Now while I get that every species, even predators have to eat, I have  tendency to root for the prey to escape, especially if it is smaller. I am no fan of bullies.

Just now I watched a video where a cheetah and hyena fight over what I think/guess was an impala.

Normally the predator will clasp the prey's neck to suffocate it. But in this instance the two predators thought the impala was dead. It laid perfectly stiff and played dead and while it did that, the cheetah and hyena faced off against each other. The hyena briefly chased the cheetah off, then went back to sniff bite the belly of the impala, it stayed stiff, but suddenly when the hyena took it's eyes off it, to keep watch of the cheetah, the impala suddenly jumped up and ran away leaving neither of them with a meal.

You talk about a Oscar winning performance.

Predators eating prey isn’t bullying.

Tell that to the impala.

Hyena "Excuse me impala, I am hungry, do you mind if I eat you?".

Cheetah, "Excuse me impala, I am hungry, do you mind if I eat you?"

Impala, "No problem, just split the bill and tip your wait staff."

I know it isn't "bullying" in reality. But I do know what it is like to be chased down and beaten up.

Point is, the impala didn't want to be dinner, and I can identify with not want to suffer pain, much less death.

I just found it's acting and timing brilliant.

Do you ever wonder why you were chased down and beat up? I don't.

Nice.

I think you 100% missed my point in this post.

I clearly stated that it is natural for the cheetah and hyena to want to eat.

But I also understand why the impala didn't want to die.

Life eating other life is part of nature. I simply don't like that reality, I accept it, I still don't like it.

I eat meat myself. But I could never hunt, or work in a slaughterhouse.

I have eaten deer, beef, pork, croc and even kangaroo, chicken and dove.

I simply love a good story of survival.

The impala doesn’t want or not want anything. Its behaviour is the end result of thousands and thousands of generations of evolution. An impala can’t help running from a cheetah any more than a cheetah can help chasing an impala. Choice and desire don’t enter into these things.

Avoiding death is pretty much the same goal of all life.

Nope - there are several critters whose goal is to mate...then they die, die soon after, or are killed by the mate.
