Oregon Medical Board revokes license of doctor who bucked COVID guidelines, spread misinformation
Quote:The Oregon Medical Board revoked the license of a Dallas doctor earlier this month after he refused to follow COVID-19 guidelines in his office, spread misinformation about masks and over-prescribed opioids to his patients, according to medical board documents.
The board also fined Steven Arthur LaTulippe $10,000 on Sept. 2.
LaTulippe sued the medical board in January after his license was suspended the month before, when the board found his office was placing patients in danger by disregarding COVID-19 mandates and asking patients to remove their masks.
LaTulippe’s family practice, South View Medical Arts, did not properly screen patients and relied on the receptionist’s ability to visually gauge whether visitors were sick, according to the medical board documents.

And here's Jake Tapper grilling Tate Reeves, the governor of Mississippi about his piss-poor approach to COVID.
Admittedly, he does have a point about deaths being a lagging indicator and that the seven-day average has been going down in his state for about a month, but it's worth noting that, even with total cases in mind and not deaths, the record is still pretty damning. Though Mississippi's still at #6 for total cases when it comes to states, each of those top six states have a rate above literally every other country on the planet but three (scroll down a bit to find the graph): Seychelles, Montenegro, and Andorra. Although, in fairness, #4-6 also have a rate higher than Gibraltar, which isn't actually a country.
Also, of the top 15 states for total cases, exactly two have a Democratic governor. And even for new cases, being extremely generous, of the 25 states with the most new cases per capita, only Virginia, Delaware, Wisconsin, and Kentucky (plus Guam) have Democratic governors.
And, naturally, his response to this is:

Is he by any chance the real-life model for Peter from Family Guy?

New covid variant, R.1, identified in Kentucky. Current vaccines appear to be less effective.

Three oral antiviral treatments are close to completing their phase 3 trials and look promising (1 each from Merk Pfizer and Roche). The medico's think that if all continues to go well they could apply for emergency use authorization by the beginning of next year. Unfortunately that may be a bit optimistic because all are having difficulty getting unvaccinated infected people to sign up within 5 days of a positive covid test.

Food for thought
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Sure hope that what's been ailing me the last couple weeks isn't a breakthrough case of COVID and is instead another plunging of B-12 levels. I am worn out after the smallest exertion of energy...pretty much been sleeping for the last four days.
