I've got a friend who thinks it's funny somebody would accuse me of that - as I was one of the guys that dated his little sister in school..... She dumped me BTW...I was (in her words) too horny and handsy for her at the time...

Point taken. However, I think you are aware that merely dating someone of another race doesn't necessarily insulate someone from racism. There's more to it than that.

I don't understand the need to get so defensive. Yes, you did mention you were friends with his sister, but again, that old trope "I have black friends" does not insulate someone from being a racist. In our defense, this is all the information you offered and you offered it as evidence of not being a white supremacist, so based on that information alone, almost no one can assess your true attitude on the subject. It can be quite subtle or it can be extremely overt. I once worked with someone who admitted to me that he hated black people and I was genuinely shocked because I had never seen him behave in such as manner as to reveal this attitude. But once he revealed this to me, I suddenly became aware of some very subtle ways that he behaved that did give it away. People can carry on a charade if they want to. But I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm just pointing out that saying hey, I have black friends doesn't really establish much in our current environment.
My father has been a casual racist most of his life. He was never openly hurtful or unfair to black people but if asked he would always assert the superiority of the white race and how we weren't meant to mingle and he would make other generalizations about blacks that were nothing but stereotypes. But then a black family moved into their neighborhood and he got to be friends with this guy and now all he can talk about is how much he likes this black guy and how great he is, on and on. My father's racism has abated some but it's still there, lurking in his subconsciousness. I know how to bring it out if I wanted to trigger him. But he was indoctrinated this way and he's never truly confronted it and dealt with it. I was picking up these same habits when I was a kid but something, I don't know what, made me question it and I had to admit that I felt some of those superiority things as well. That's when I really started to dig down and ask myself hard questions. Not saying this applies to you; I'm just pointing out how subtle these attitudes can be and how you can even fool yourself at times. If that's not you, then great, I'm not accusing you of anything.
