Meanwhile, I seem to be sick again. My cough is back in full force. I keep throwing up my breakfast after I eat it. It's getting difficult to talk. On the plus side my SSI have finally been approved and I think they're working on turning it into payment. I hope to get my first check sometime soon.

Most of it is going to room and board here. I think I get like $62 a month. So the first couple of dollars of that is going to soda and I'll see about getting some of it on a card so I can buy a game off Steam that I really want.

It's been quite a few years since I went on disability, but ISTR there being a buttload of discretionary cash left over after everything else was taken out. (I was living in a group home at the time, so it might be comparable. Then again it might not. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention when you were describing your current situation. Mea culpa.)

To my knowledge - SSI ( disability) payments go back to the date that you were determined to be disabled.
I have seen where the applicant fought the agency for years - then when approved recieved a rather large check for payments back to the day first claimed...

6 months after disability date (5 months waiting period from disability date, payments begin in the 6th month). Then begins a 1 year waiting period to qualify for Medicare coverage.

 Well yes and no.

In my youth there were times I went to such a room and spoke to god on the great white telephone----
----one adopts a prayerful  attitude, on one's knees. Entire head goes into the receiver and arms around the receiver. Then it's full supplication, with  "Ohhhhh, Godddd!!!!!"  That is immediately followed with a sincere, gushing personal offering .

Fair enough too. Bloody cheek

It's tradition here to have the toilet  in its own little room.

Had my bathroom done up a few years ago. Opted to still have a bath. Shouldn't have bothered. These days I only have showers.  I still like baths, they're just dandy. Until I want to get out. I have to get on my hands and knees and kind of roll.

I have four nights off a week. I really need to find a way to focus on my writing instead of procrastinating. Easier thought than done, obviously.
