I have seen where the applicant fought the agency for years - then when approved recieved a rather large check for payments back to the day first claimed...
The agent on the phone did mention the day I was determined to be disabled, and that I was approved in June, but the first check to count would be for the month of July. I have three months worth of payments coming my way. I'm supposed to go over their paperwork that they're going to send me and make sure the information they have on me is correct.

Here it's 'the loo'. Outside toilets used to be called "the dunny". My nan called it the lala. Apparently confused the hell out of mum's friends.
There's a great Aussie insult: " I hope your chooks all (chickens) turn into Emus and kick your dunny down"

I think I would have enjoyed the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy more if Toshiro Mifune had been cast as Obi-Wan.

Yeah, I've always thought a good Asian actor should have played Obi-wan. Admired by Akira Kurosawa, Toshiro Mifune would have been excellent, bringing some suitable gravitas to the role. He died in the 90's.

I hate being sick. It keeps me from doing the work I enjoy to do, but thus is life. Nothing I can do about it but focus on getting better.

Hadn't seen that photo, but yes, he looks like a film star.
I also liked Ken Watanabe in The Last Samurai. His character had gravitas imo.

Helping an obese resident this evening, I was thinking, Great, I'm on an episode of "My Six-Hundred Pound Life".

I understand this is talking about being diplomatic and subtle but I'm stuck on the "go to hell" aspect of the metaphor. I guess I'm having trouble following the logic of wanting to tell someone to go to hell but also wanting/allowing them to feel safe/like it's appropriate to ask ME for directions. I guess I'm an emotional firecracker with no tact. If I tell you to go to hell, I don't want you to feel confused about how I feel about you and I don't want you to think I'm talking about vacation, as if hell is somewhere you might be eager to go, "Oh! Sounds nice! So, which way is it?"
If I told you to go to hell and you asked me for directions, I'd think you were being a smug arsehole.
