Damn, that's pretty wise.

well looks like Florida is afraid of being offended... start downhill spiral.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

LOL,....start...he says. It's florida. They already live at the bottom of a very deep very strange well. Anywho, florida isn't afraid of being offended or of being offensive - it's afraid of offending Teh Whites.

That sort of language is so broad it could literally be used to defend almost any decision.  Hey, lets ban basketball because the basketball teams are 98% black and it makes the white boys feel insignificant.  And that wasn't even including a comparison of their dicks.

Yes, I knew everything you just posted. I agree that CRT is not being taught in highschool or grade school, as I've posted before. I know the right wants to call everything CRT, which I've posted that I disagree with. The point is, you have acted like the whole thing is a big nothing burger, and that Republicans are making an issue wholecloth out of thin air like science fiction authors talking about lizard people. This is because you probably like it that 8 year olds are labelled as oppressors, since you yourself are a white abolitionist if I remember correctly, and you think white people should stop calling themselves white because doing so just creates an us vs them mentality between so called whites and so called non-whites. And it's fine to be a race abolitionist. There is nothing wrong with that in itself, but you are a pretty big racist while also being a white abolitionist. 57 percent of white women are not Neo-Nazis or worse as you have stated, and it's pretty childish that you endorsed a video that said white people suck because white people smell funky.

RE: Critical Race Theory
The problem with discussions like this is that actions of stupid people become "what the other side wants to do".

That isn't true. IA has agreed that calling everything CRT isn't correct, and the lefties on here agree that dividing students in "oppressors and oppressed" is just f'ing stupid.

So, why is the Florida law happening? If it was just to stop maverick teachers from doing the "oppressors and oppressed" thing, it would be justified, with the proper wording. However, that isn't it - the purpose is to shut down any discussion of racial injustice.

Now, what parts of racial history should be taught, and to what grades, and how should it be taught? I don't know. There is room for discussion there. I think the "politics of victimization" on the Left, while understandable, isn't going to have to have the desired results. It is going to lead to resentment and backlash. For the Right, the politics of "white victimhood" is also not going to end well - that leads to more oppression and violence (by their side) and division.

Just be frick'n honest about the past, assess the realities of the present, and work toward opportunity for all. That is valid whether we are talking about white/black, immigrant/non, rich/poor, healthy/disabled, etc.

That's exactly what happened, yes.  Like I said, clowns..but the work speaks for itself. White victimization narratives drive people to the polls. You probably have some awareness of this - but in the context of thinking that black victimization narratives..instead..drives people to the polls. This loopy shit is just true, somehow, even as you concede that you're perfectly aware that it's the new satanic panic.

@HappySkeptic

It might not be possible to be honest about the past if that conflicts with a cherished lie in the present.

I think its easier to be honest about the past than the present.  In the present, should black people be compensated for past injustice?  Are hiring quotas reverse discrimination?  Is racism a relic of the past, and can therefore be dismissed?

The sides do not agree on this, because the answer means real world consequences.

Was it right-wing journalists promising bombshell revelations of Trump-Russian collusion based on fantasies and institutional corruption? Was it the "right" trying to suppress the lab leak hypothesis? Or labeling obvious riots, complete with arson blazing buildings, "peaceful protests"? Or promoting the notion that January 6th was an insurrection without weapons or command structure. Which administration is now holding political prisoners in solitary confinement? The left doesn't get a pass on their shit any more than the right can deny that the old money Bush neo-cons deceived the public and used glorified service members to manipulate public sentiment. The lives ruined and billions wasted to no good end.
