Christian music you actually like?

Christian music you actually like?
I saw the thread about the movies and I decided why not make one about music. I, being Christian, naturally listen to a lot of Christian music, ‘yea even unto this very day’. But I also feel like around 2008 a lot of it started to sound the same…

Anyways, like the movie thread, anyone here still find themselves reluctantly finding certain Christian songs to still be bangers?

I love the band Ghost B.C, especially the song "Year Zero". It's full of Christian iconography and characters from Christian mythology

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Contemporary Christian is poorly done.  It needs talent like Hovie Lister and Jake Hess.  My dad was a gospel singer.  I think he was in it for the chicks.

Christian music I enjoy pretty much begins and ends with 'Plastic Jesus'.

I'm not sure, but I think Evanescence is a Christian band. At least one of their members is, and their hit song 'Tourniquet' for instance... 'my God, my tourniquet, return to me salvation', shows it's not just incidental. I've always thought they were a great rock band.

From Wikipedia -

Evanescence was originally promoted in Christian stores. Later, the band made it clear they did not want to be considered part of the Christian rock genre.[159] Terry Hemmings, CEO of Christian music distributor Provident, expressed puzzlement at the band's about-face, saying: "They clearly understood the album would be sold in these [Christian music] channels".[160] After many Christian stores began to remove the band's music from their shelves, Wind-up Records chairman Alan Meltzer then issued a press release in April 2003 requesting formally that they do this.[161] In 2006, Amy Lee told Billboard that she had opposed the "Christian band" identification from the beginning, calling it a "Ben thing".[157] In a 2011 interview with the San Antonio Current, Lee re-affirmed her Christian faith, but once again stressed that Evanescence "has never been a 'Christian band.'"[162]

Interesting... I've never thought of them as a Christian band in that sense - as in part of the Christian Rock genre - so I guess their messaging/rebranding worked. But I never got the impression they were ashamed of it, but this certainly gives that impression.

I could jam out to creed, and I absolutely love southern gospel, and bluegrass, ofc - spent my childhood in choirs. The music aint the problem, it's the godawful religion.

Just like centuries of extremely talented artists and craftsmen depicted the crucifixion in obscenely beautiful ways - the whole time, obsessing over how the better man was murdered so that they might gain undeserved reward from his torture and execution.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
