Gul Madred. As Jean Luc said, "THERE...ARE...FOUR...LIGHTS!" He was also the only good thing abojt Star Trek V.

He'll be sorely missed, brilliant actor.

David Trimble, massively overrated politician who had to be strongarmed into accepting the Good Friday Agreement and spent the rest of his career complaining about having to share power with the "Taigs", pegged it.

Of all the GFA signatories, he was the least active in making sure it happened. All the credit goes to John Major and Tony Blair, John Hume and Seamus Mallon, John Bruton and Bertie Ahearn, George Mitchell and Bill Clinton and finally Gerrry Adams and Martin McGuinness for finally ending the PIRA's campaign of murder and bringing them to the peace table.

Good assessment. There’s precious little double that, if left to his own devices, Trimble would have gutted the GFA to the point of toothlessness. It was largely Hume and McGuinness (and not inconsiderable pressure from the Americans) that kept him from doing so.

Blair and Major helped in a massive way. If I recall correctly it was only the promise that the six counties would be ruled by an Irish British condominium that brought Trimble and the other protestant supremacists in the UUP to the table.

Oh and one more person I forgot to give praise to last post, Mo Mowlam the true driver of the peace process within Labour. Without her it wouldn't have happened and with her gone successive English governments reverted to appeasing the protestant supremacists, by now the NSDUP.

Diane Hegarty, co-founder of the Church of Satan, which she co-founded with her longtime partner Anton LaVey.

From wikipedia:

Quote:Hegarty administered the Church and typed and edited The Satanic Bible, The Satanic Rituals, The Compleat Witch (aka The Satanic Witch) and The Devil’s Notebook. She did most of the Church's administrative, press and member relations work. Their daughter Zeena Schreck was in the media spotlight at age 3, at her Satanic baptism, and again defending the Church of Satan against allegations of Satanic ritual abuse as public representative and High Priestess of the Church of Satan between 1985 and 1990 during the 1980s Satanic panic, the politically-motivated Christian fundamentalist witch-hunts in America.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Update - he's still alive.  Apparently his wife thought he was dead and put the word out.  Seems like that would be something you'd be sure about before alerting the press.

He is sick but the RIP can wait a bit.
