"Official White House Twitter roasts GOP critics of student debt forgiveness"
The official Twitter account has called out commentators who criticised its student loan forgiveness plan — by sharing exactly how much of their own debt the government forgave. It ain't pennies, either.
Under the new student loan forgiveness plan, the government will cancel up to $20,000 of people's federal student loans, provided they meet certain criteria.
Predictably, this caused certain others to loudly object to the perceived injustice of it all — few as loudly as the conservative members of Congress. This was particularly ironic considering that many of these critics' own Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans had previously been forgiven by the government as well. As such, Twitter was quick to dunk on their hypocrisy.
"Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven," the White House tweeted, responding to a clip of Taylor Greene calling debt forgiveness "completely unfair."
Others targeted in the simple, savage thread include Congressman Vern Buchanan (over $2.3 million), Congressman Markwayne Mullin (over $1.4 million), Congressman Kevin Hern (over $1 million), Congressman Mike Kelly ($987,237), and Congressman Matt Gaetz ($482,321).
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I would never officially report another member to the mods. I certainly don't want you to change how you post on my behalf, and I don't take our arguments personally. I was merely pointing out to AWTY that lots of people break this supposed rule and I've never once seen anyone scolded for it but myself. I wonder why that is.
Nope, her calling me out was totally valid and if you don't report stuff don't expect the staff to care.

They say that it was their employees mooching, ofc. Neveryoumind that if it were really for the employees...we could have just given them the cash directly. It's a good thing they went the route of forgiveness - otherwise, there'd have been a hell of alot of fraud cases gumming up the courts about now. Alot more, I mean.

Biden's speech walks a fine line in its attack on MAGA Republicans NPR
Quote:Democrats have picked up some momentum this election cycle with wins in multiple special elections, following the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade.
And the FBI search of former President Trump's Florida home has thrust Trump back into the spotlight, front and center. Lots of his candidates have won contentious primaries; he's consolidated his base; and his renewed presence has threatened to make the November elections a choice rather than a referendum on President Biden.
Biden and the White House leaned into that Thursday night with an unusual prime-time address that broke no news or made any big announcements. Instead, Biden took the opportunity to elevate Trump and make it a choice between what Biden and Democrats stand for and MAGA Republican extremism, as he sees it, and their rising influence in positions of power throughout the country.
"I believe America is at an inflection point," the president said in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the same city where he launched his 2020 presidential campaign, "one of those moments that determine the shape of everything that's to come after. And now America must choose to move forward or to move backwards."
..................
"MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards," Biden said, "backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love."

It’s kinda funny - in 2020 (I think), Trump called Democrats ‘fascists’. No one got upset about it, because they knew it wasn’t true. In 2022, Biden called extreme Republicans ‘fascists’ and ALL Republicans are losing their collective shit.
I wonder why…

Actually, people like Tucker Carlson, rather than being offended by the accusations of fascism and calls for fascism, seem to be embracing it. Tucker Carlson and his guest in this clip admit that fascism may be the only way to go, and seems to be doing apologia for Trumpers who feel this way. They predict the GOP will go full fascist in 10 or 20 years. They're not hiding it anymore.
And yeah, Biden is my guy, but to an extent, America brought this on itself, by having the FBI and CIA interfere in a Presidential election with the Hunter Biden story, and by giving the Trumpers claims of a rigged election at least some merit. The sad part of all of this is, Biden still would have likely won big despite the Hunter Biden laptop story, but the intelligence community couldn't help itself from interfering in an election, causing Republicans to lose their shit, and who knows what is to follow in the years to come because of the entirely undemocratic actions of your intelligence community. And before anyone brings up how Hunter Biden is not the president.. not the point. The FBI and CIA wouldn't hesitate for a second to interfere in an election the same way they did this last time around, to knock out Bernie Sanders or another progressive that they didn't want in office. The FBI and CIA have zero business doing the shit they're doing during election cycles in a healthy democracy.
Hunter Biden is irrelevant and Republican claims have no merit period.

He was relevant enough for the FBI and CIA to spread misinformation and lie about the story, and even Zuckerberg said the FBI contacted him to insinuate that he should get ready to censor shit, so yeah, I just debunked your take. He was massively relevant to the intelligence community, and they didn't need to pull this shit because Biden was going to win big no matter what, but the FBI and CIA went and fucked up a democracy. Kudos to them and a job well done. Hope you're saying that it's irrelevant when the FBI and CIA are working on disinformation campaigns to take out the next great progressive who actually has a chance in the polls to win.

You debunked nothing. The fact the FBI and CIA overreacted this time in no way refutes my point. Nice try though but as always you lose
