This Chinese kissing device lets you smooch over the internet
Quote:Want to send your faraway lover a kiss? A Chinese contraption with warm, moving silicon “lips” appears to have just the answer.
The device, advertised as a way to let long-distance couples share “real” physical intimacy, is causing a buzz among Chinese social media users, who have reacted with both intrigue and shock.
Equipped with pressure sensors and actuators, the device is said to be able to mimic a real kiss by replicating the pressure, movement and temperature of a user’s lips.
Along with the kissing motion, it can also transmit the sound the user makes.
However, while many social media users saw a funny side to the device, others criticized it as “vulgar” and “creepy.” Some voiced concerns that minors could buy and use it.
“I don’t understand (the device) but I’m utterly shocked,” said one top comment on Weibo.
On the Twitter-like platform, several hashtags about the device have racked up hundreds of millions of views over the past week.
To send a kiss, users need to download a mobile phone app and plug the device into their phone’s charging port. After pairing with their partners in the app, couples can start a video call and transmit replicas of their smooches to each other.

Why is baked pronounced baked,
but naked is pronounced naked?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Because the chief consistency of English is its inconsistency.

I guess I really hadn't paid attention to how long my hair has gotten. I usually put it in a ponytail but decided to flat iron it this morning...good grief...I feel like a cousin of Cousin Itt.

I unknowingly sat on the end of my braid a few days ago. Leaned over to pet one of the cats and nearly did myself a mischief.

Watching last year's Super Bowl, there's an ad with Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm stupidly offering negative assessments of inventions throughout history like the wheel and the telephone. It closes with Larry nay-saying the idea of FTX crypto and closes with the tagline of, "Don't Be Like Larry." Yeah, that didn't age well.

Got a call from the hearing aid place. Had an appointment morning of the second next month. Turns out, even though I booked the appointment months ago, there's a conflict where I have to call to reschedule.
*sigh*

If this was a Leap Year, husband and I would be having an anniversary this week. We were married on (American way of writing dates) 2/29/92.

What would happen if, on coronation day, Meghan Markle slipped and fell into a coronation chair just when Charles was to be proclaimed king so that she gets the crown on her head? Would she become legally a queen?
