Atheist Evangelism

RE: Atheist Evangelism
You'll probably have to flesh that one out. Why would teaching people biology lead to a secular religion? How should we explain why so many who have been taught biology didn;t come to a secular religion, or how so many who have been taught biology didn't come to a religion of social darwinism?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Most people who get taught that stuff in school end up becoming secularists.

You should start from the peripheral things. Boru mentions that you should start by talking about evolution, but that's too close/ obvious. So by peripheral approach, I mean that you should start with the subject of gay people - Christians are usually taught by the church that gay people are wicked and secretly communist agents who are trying to overthrow the government, so you show them "Will and Grace" where they can see that gay people are normal like everyone else. Or the church teaches Christians that Jews still steal Christian children to eat them, so you show them Seinfeld and they see that Jews are people like them.

So when they see that the church lied to them about gays and Jews, they slowly get curious about what else are they wrong about, and you slowly come to telling them about evolution and how there is no evidence of the existence of gods.

These kinds of TV shows helped people abandon religion and religious leaders know it, that's why you can hear them talking about the "dangers of secularism".

Boru did no such thing.

Not sure that's true, and generally speaking, secularists aren't Social Darwinists.

Same here. However, I am interested in them not trying to convert me. It typically comes with a fair share of negative judgement and nonsense.

What's so bad about that? I want religion kept out of our laws.

I'm interested in religion becoming obsolete. I think we'd have a better world.

The world would still suck without religion.

You probably have that relationship backwards, and you wind up arguing against yourself in the explanation.  Theists and social darwinists alike believe (and have long believed) that biology is the proof in the pudding for their assertions - but it remains unclear how teaching biology leads to the notion that governments should be for all of the people regardless of and against none of the people on the basis of their religious beliefs.

Perhaps the misunderstanding is even deeper. Between descriptive and metaethical positions. Between understanding that a thing can be a true description of what we do, even if it's not a true description of what we should do. When you think about biology, does it turn you into a secularist or a social darwinist? If evolution is true*, should we be secularists? Should we be social darwinists, in your estimation?

But likely suck less.
