The Absurd GOP
RE: The Absurd GOP
The House of Representatives is about to take up, for the third time, the matter of expelling George Santos.

Republicans signal that they're moving the goal posts again, now that the Ethics Committee report is in. Now they say "sorry mate, he's not been convicted. Due process, ya know."

Edit - Santos is out

George Santos Expelled From Congress in Tense House Vote (msn.com)

WASHINGTON—The House voted Friday to expel embattled Rep. George Santos over allegations the New York Republican stole money from his own campaign and committed other misdeeds, in only the third expulsion from the chamber since the Civil War.

The vote was 311 to 114, just slightly more than the two-thirds House supermajority required to remove a member. Two voted present. While Democrats and many Republicans supported the move to remove Santos, some—including Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.)— had expressed reservations about expelling him before his criminal case had been resolved.

You don't think it's a sad day for America that the first ever gay jewish catholic hispanic black caucasian son of immigrants Ivy League graduate cancer survivor member of Congress whose ancestors survived the Holocaust and died on 9/11 got removed from office?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

With her antics here, she's likely to hand her district to the Dems when she next stands for re-election. Big Grin

And we're forgetting his time funding one of the biggest disasters Broadway's ever seen?

Yes, he actually thought that funding the money sink that was Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark was somehow a good flex for his donors.

I think removing Mr. Santos is shameful. I mean, is that anyway to treat the first cowboy to perform a heart transplant on the Space Station while simultaneously translating Homer's Iliad from the original Klingon?

Democrats Have Assembled A Massive Trove Of Evidence On Jared and Ivanka Kushner

A recent report from the news publication The New Republic said that Democrats in Congress have assembled hundreds of pages of evidence on financial dealings in which the duo engaged while they also served in ostensible roles within the Trump administration.

There are already clear indications in the public record that Ivanka and Jared were bringing in large sums while in government. They reported potentially upwards of half a billion dollars in outside earnings during Trump’s term, meaning money made outside the federal government. (Some financial disclosure forms only require numerical ranges to be reported rather than precise amounts.) A significant source for some of their income was the now defunct Trump hotel that operated in Washington, D.C., while the former president was in office. Ivanka reportedly made $13 million in connection to that property in a period coinciding with her father’s presidential tenure.
