52 US Senators just voted to confirm an HHS Secretary who told them 2 weeks ago that Black people have different immune systems
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I keep on reading about Senate Republicans finding this or that nominee unacceptable ... right up to the moment they collapse and rubber-stamp another pillager of our government.

They are afraid of retaliation from Trumpmusk. And, it seems, rightfully so.

Or they agree with them, but are afraid to be open about it in the media.

They're a bunch of racist 1%er trolls. I think they're fine with the looting and pillaging.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So far, there are few elected people with spines. I am surprised they have chairs and aren't just piled in a heap.

They're waiting for the little people to start the revolution, and they know it wont be good for them.

It's mildly amusing that McConnell has seemed to realize in hindsight the damage he's done by enabling Trump to appoint three judges. Can't take it back, Mitch.

They are certainly sending kids a clear message.
Quote:Nazi flags can fly in Utah schools, but not pride flags, GOP lawmaker says
An ongoing fight in Utah to ban pride flags in schools entered new territory Thursday after Rep. Trevor Lee proposed new legislation to ban the flags not just in public schools, but in any government building or on any government property.
The bill also allows for the flying of a “historic version of a flag ... that is temporarily displayed for educational purposes,” which Lee, R-Layton, said would include the Confederate and Nazi flags.
When he first introduced the bill, Lee said on the social media platform X that his goal was to ban pride flags. But Nazi and Confederate flags, he told the committee Thursday, would be included in the approved flags. “There are instances where in classrooms, you have curriculum that is needed to use flags such as World War II, Civil War,” he said. “You may have a Nazi flag. You may have a Confederate flag, and so you are allowed to display those flags… as part of the curriculum, and that is okay.”
“This ban is unconstitutional and only serves as a means of control over the people,” Millie Dworkin, a senior at Salt Lake Center for Science Education, said during public testimony.

A few Fascists House Republicans are pledging to bring up impeachment articles against federal judges who have blocked Trump administration actions.
The MAGA fourth Reich continues to attack American institutions.
Quote:A few House Republicans are pledging to bring up impeachment articles against federal judges who have blocked Trump administration actions, including those of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), backing up tech billionaire Elon Musk’s call for a “wave of judicial impeachments.”
Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) said he is drafting articles of impeachment against Judge Paul Engelmayer of the Southern District of New York, who in a ruling last weekend temporarily restricted Musk and DOGE aides from accessing a Treasury Department payment system.
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) is working on an impeachment resolution against Rhode Island District Judge John McConnell Jr. over his ruling halting the Trump administration’s freeze on federal funding.
