Something the rest of us get from that tax is apparently a complete lack of terrorism from the Ismailis, who would only go forward with such acts if the Aga Khan approved.

Just found out - that 12.5% is voluntary. The Aga Khan doesn’t ‘impose’ taxes or tithes on his followers.
