The Army is preparing to roll out a new policy that could lead to soldiers diagnosed with a chronic skin condition that causes painful razor bumps and scarring to be kicked out of the service -- an issue that disproportionately affects Black men.

The new guidance, expected to take effect in the coming weeks, would bar permanent shaving waivers and require medical personnel to craft formal treatment plans for affected troops, according to multiple service officials and internal documents reviewed by Military.com.

Meanwhile, white troops who refused the COVID vaccine get waivers, sympathy, and protection.

Infuriating. PFB is to combat effectiveness as is, say, psoriasis.

Hegseth needs to be happy there's not an IQ test involved to qualify for his position. But if there was a test involved, I'd gladly contribute a ball-peen hammer to his dismissal. He may as well be a Chinese agent.

I'm racking my brain trying to recall ever meeting a white troop with a permanent shaving profile. I'm sure they exist, but I have encountered countless black soldiers with PFB who did.

Zero impact on mission readiness, btw.

We had one white guy in my training flight who had a shaving waiver. The sonofabitch could run a six-minute mile, probably because he wasn't running on his jawbone.

I wonder how long it will be before they come after my son, a cannon-cocker in the USMC. Hispanic on his mom's side, but (in this day and age, thankfully) has my Germanic last name. He has 18 months active left, hope he can slide out before a general discharge comes hunting for him.

These fucking pricks drumming out folks who've sworn their lives to defending our country. Who is the traitor? Who?

Yeah, buddy. He's very opinionated, like me, and doesn't like the administration they serve. He's not alone even in his unit, there's a lot of his junior enlisted compadres who smell the bullshit too.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't what I, you, @The Grand Nudger, @Mister Agenda, @Fireball, @"The Gentleman Bastard", and many others signed up for ... including my son.

My concern is for my bonus son who has already served two tours in Afghanistan. I would hate to see him sent back to a combat zone. He'd go if ordered to but damn....

We talked about Trump being Commander in Chief when I was in SC last month. He said he is so deep in (18 yrs in with 15 of that full time) that he is just trying to get to retirement. I feel bad for him as he put his life on the line and now has to take orders from a complete lunatic.

I have trouble understanding how Trump talks so much shit about the military and expects it to be at his beck and call while he dismantles it piece by piece.
I'm your huckleberry.

Quote:Trump Withholds Nearly $7 Billion for Schools, With No Explanation

The Trump administration has declined to release nearly $7 billion in federal funding that helps pay for after-school and summer programs, support for students learning English, teacher training and other services.

The money was expected to be released by Tuesday. But in an email on Monday, the Education Department notified state education agencies that the money would not be available.

The administration offered little explanation, saying only that the funds were under review. It gave no timeline for when, or if, the money would be released, saying instead that it was “committed to ensuring taxpayer resources are spent in accordance with the president’s priorities.” The frozen funds are unrelated to the millions of dollars in cuts included in the domestic policy bill that squeaked through the Senate on Tuesday.

“It’s catastrophic,” said Jodi Grant, executive director of the Afterschool Alliance, a group that works to expand after-school services for students. She estimated that the federal dollars for after-school and summer-school programs — about $1.3 billion annually — support 1.4 million students, mostly lower income, representing about 20 percent of all students in after-school programs nationally.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

This is what happens when congress yields its own spending authorities to the president. They need to grow a spine and push back.

Spending, tariffs, wars - didn’t these all used to be the province of Congress?
