I was planning on staying until the completion of a two year project that I'm serving as tech lead / subject matter expert on, but my formerly great place to work decided to cosplay as a big boy company and got shitty fast. The job market in tech is fucking awful and nobody wants to hire 58 year old software developers. I'm not going to subject myself to the indignity of a soul crushing job search, so I'm done with tech.

It's too bad, my boss is a good guy and this isn't his doing. He's just powerless to do anything in light of policy.

Puzzling over some tech problems. I've got a corrupted disk, but the directories are intact. I clone it using sector-by-sector copy, but the directories in the cloned copy aren't intact. I don't know why the cloning isn't working correctly.

I've had this happen, and then have the package show up in spite of no tracking updates. But that was years ago. Now we can blame the chump.
